»Impremedia-La Nación. As reported several weeks ago in Portada, it is now official: A subsidiary of Argentinean La Nacion has purchased a majority stake in Hispanic digital and print media company Impremedia. There has not been much analysis on the purchase other than the official press releases. However, Argentine trade Journal Comunicar reports that in Buenos Aires media circles there are observers who put question marks on La Nación’s purchase. Some would like to know about the price of the purchase. Others assert that the Spanish-language newspapers owned by impreMedia are not barred from the decline in revenues in the U.S. newspaper market. Other analysts see the transaction in a more political context as it allows La Nación to diversify its risk away of Argentina (Both La Nación and Clarin are in the midst of a political and legal battle with the government about the ownership of Papel Prensa, a major Argentine newsprint production center.)

»Freemantle to shop Hulu’s Content on International TV
The
New York Times Media Decoder reports that Hulu and Freemantle Media just struck a deal with important international implications. “Acting just like a television network, the online video Web site Hulu is partnering with Freemantle Media to sell its original shows overseas. The arrangement is a “first-look deal,” which means that FremantleMedia will have the first shot at shopping around Hulu’s shows to international TV channels.

» Yahoo bets on online video content
Continuing its aggressive expansion into video content as it restructures its operations, Yahoo has signed a development deal with former Disney chief Michael Eisner’s Vuguru production company to create multiple scripted series for the Yahoo Screen video portal,
PaidContent reports.

» and more online TV Content: Slim – Larry King partnership
Billionaire Carlos Slim’s wireless carrier America Movil (AMXL) SAB is funding an online TV network that will star former CNN talk-show host Larry King,
Bloomberg Business Week reports. “Ora.tv, based in New York, is led by Jon Housman, formerly News Corp.’s president of digital journalism, according to the company’s website. Programming will start later this year, the company said. It didn’t say how much America Movil is investing. Slim, the world’s richest person according to the Bloomberg BillionairesIndex, is expanding his media properties as America Movil increases its presence in the pay-TV business. The Mexico City-based company has the most cable and satellite subscribers in Latin America, with more than 13 million subs, mostly in Brazil.”

» Will Intel be able to get into the Pay-TV Game?
DigitalTrends
reports that chipmaking giant Intel has been looking to expand its business beyond the chips that power notebooks, desktops, servers, and a handful of other gizmos, but hasn’t met with much success. Now word comes from The Wall Street Journal and other sources that Intel is considering launching its own Internet-based pay-TV business. The idea is that instead of — or perhaps in addition to — buying television service from a cable company or satellite provider, you’d go straight to Intel, paying the company for access to real-time television programming delivered via the Internet. "Intel has nothing in the last mile — or even the middle mile — when it comes to delivering the content to the end user.. This is likely to be an uphill climb — even for them." EdgeCast Networks' Anthony Citrano, tells E-Commerce Times.
