» Ivan Roman quits. MediaMoves reports that Iván Román, executive director of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists since 2003, has resigned. He will remain on the job and continue the day-to-day operations throughout the upcoming NAHJ Orlando convention in June.
» Univision Atlanta Newscast. Also MediaMoves notes that Univision Atlanta has launched newscasts to cater to Hispanic Audiences at this Emerging Hispanic Market. Univision Atlanta launches newscasts After years of producing local news briefs, Univision 34 in Atlanta yesterday finally launched 2 half-hour newscasts. They'll be airing at 6 and 11 pm Mon-Fri. Gianncarlo Cifuentes, who has been manning the news briefs, will be the news director and anchor of the newscasts. Amanda Ramírez, Mariela Romero and Omar García round up the news team.
» Nationwide Hispanic Insurance Broker. Confie Seguros has acquired NII Brokerage, an agency with 26 offices concentrated in Upstate New York. Confie Seguros is a private equity-backed firm that is building a nationwide brokerage business focusing on Hispanic insurance buyers. The firm said NII’s significant presence in New York serves as a platform for Confie Seguros to expand throughout the Empire State, as well as into Connecticut and Pennsylvania. With the addition of NII, the company said it will generate about $150 million in annual revenues.
