Bodas USA La Revista is rolling out the latest phase of its multimedia approach with its next issue, incorporating mobile technology into its offering.

“In these difficult economic times, the advertisers both in the US and in Mexico have embraced the concept very enthusiastically as a way to extend their reach to US consumers,” Publisher Lilian de la Torres tells Portada. “Our Baja advertisers, including a top area resort, are ecstatic to be able to connect the 2 worlds via SMS for potential clients considering destination weddings.”

De la Torres says that incorporating mobile was a natural next step for the magazine, since they already have a digital issue, a podcast and video features.

By utilizing the text messaging options, brides-to-be will be able to enter the “La Boda de tus Sueños” contest, download coupons from vendors, make appointments with local David’s Bridal stores, and more. They will also be able to request editorial articles on bridesmaids dresses, bridal gowns, shoes, accesories, travel, honeymoon destinations, photography, etc.

The cover promotes the “La Boda de tus Sueños” contest in which Universal Music Latino artist Arthur Hanlon will perform at the wedding of the winning bride. Readers of the offline issue are also provided with a text messaging options to listen to audio of Hanlon’s songs and to view some of his videos.

NxtbookMedia currently produces the magazines digital edition, says de la Torre, which helped in deciding to engage NXTTEXT, the companies mobile services provider.

The first “mobile-activated” print issue of Bodas, on sale December 4, 2008, includes 39 text messaging options from cover to back cover.
