Latin American B2C entertainment publisher, Binbit, announced the acquisition of Forest Media International, a SMS solutions provider based in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Forest Media International specializes in providing applications and services to content providers/aggregators. It provides customized application solutions for mobile marketing, ‘Premium SMS’ mobile billing, mobile web, and mobile content delivery. Forest also provides SMS TV formats tailored to local broadcasters.
Antoni Muntaner, Chairman at The Binbit Group, said that “The purchase of Forest Media International translates into the significant consolidation of Binbit in Southeast Asia”.
Binbit will now offer content directly in the Indonesian market; content choices that include MP3s, Real Sounds, Videoclips, Games and JAVA Applications, Wallpapers and Screensavers, and Text.
According to IDC, a global provider of market intelligence for the telecommunication industry, Indonesia continues to enjoy sound market growth, driven by rising mobile and Internet access penetration, as well as national projects such as WiMAX and National IT Flagship development.
“Revenue for the telecom industry in Indonesia will reach more than 3.5 billion USD by 2013; hence our decision to broaden our reach in that region by bringing aggregated value to carriers and end users.” added Muntaner.
