Hip-Hop Star and Music Mogul Jermaine Dupri delighted the audience in a packed ballroom at Portada’s 2012 Latam Summit. Dupri, was interviewed by Leandro de Paula Latin America Sales Director at Microsoft Advertising. Dupri has launched Global 14, which consists of more than 1,100 groups who share common interests such as fashion, hip–hop, and R&B. Global 14 , grew out of his frustration with major social networking sites including YouTube and Facebook, and has now more than 36,000 engaged followers. Dupri said that all he wanted to create “free networking space”.
According to Jermaine, “Global 14 is about redefining the meaning of online friends as members of diverse groups who share their interests and care about each other instead of just accumulating Followers and Likes.” The business model for Global 14 is what Dupri calls “personalized monetizing”. Dupri used his appearance at the Latam Summit to announce the launch of Global 14 sports.
