Independent journalist Javier Castaño just introduced QueensLatino.com a website targeting the Queens Latino community. Castaño intends to revolutionize the way Spanish-language journalism is done in the U.S.
QueensLatino has a companion monthly print publication. It has a circulation of 10,000 and is sold for 25 cents in locations of high Latino density in Queens. The first issue’s cover is graced by an Argentinian and black yoga teacher. A substantial part of the first issue is devoted to the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
Castaño describes the new venture as a digital, local, aggressive and innovative enterprise. The QueensLatino.com has a companion monthly print publication.
