AirTouch Communications announced that Carlos Isaza has been named Vice President of Sales for Latin America. The appointment of Mr. Isaza is the latest step in AirTouch's global marketing strategy and follows the Company's recently announced establishment of AirTouch China. AirTouch intends to target the BRIC nations (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) and the Next 11 countries that are expected to develop leading economies.
Research In Motion's co-CEOs Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie have quit after a tumultuous period at the company, which saw intense competition. Thorsten Heins, who was formerly the COO of the company, has taken charge as president and CEO, to implement the succession plan previously submitted to the Board by the former co-CEOs, RIM said in a statement.
General Atlantic, a global equity firm, announced that Martin Escobari has joined the firm as a managing director and head of its Sao Paulo, Brazil office and Latin American investing program. Mr. Escobari will lead GA's investment activity in Latin America as part of the firm's strategy to invest in growth companies in this region.
The insurance segment of the XL Group has appointed Alvaro Salamanca as CEO of its operation in Mexico, effective immediately. He will report to Bruno Laval, XL’s insurance segment’s Regional Manager for Iberia & Latin America.
