Univision Communications Inc. announced that Joe Uva, President and Chief Executive Officer, has informed the Board of Directors that he has chosen not to renew his employment agreement in order to be able to seek other opportunities.
Telefonica USA, the U.S. unit of Spain’s Telefonica telecommunications group, named Marcelo Caputo as its chief executive, based in Miami, he succeeds Diana Sanchez – CEO, Telefonica USA, Inc.
He also will run the Americas’ arm of the Telefónica Multinational Solutions area, which provides global services to multinational companies in the United States and Latin America. Caputo joined the Telefonica Group in 1993. He held key sales positions in Telefonica’s enterprise customer division and then, helped start and led the global customers division in Latin America for five years. For the past three years, he led the company’s enterprise customers division in Mexico.
In an internal memo sent out Wednesday to Time Inc. employees, Paul Caine, EVP & Chief Revenue Officer of Time Inc. informed employees that Ballas-Traynor will be leaving Time Inc. at the end of April "to pursue a strategic consultancy in the Hispanic marketplace." Ballas-Traynor is staying on until the end of April and will work on the transition. The company has begun a search for a new publisher.

Jose Luis Rodriguez, President and CEO of Hispanic Information and Telecommunications Network (HITN), announced that three-time Emmy Award winner, Beth Kirsch, joins the organization as Vice President and Executive Producer of Digital Media Content. Kirsch will oversee the $30 Million 2010 Ready to Learn Project LAMP (Learning Apps Media Partnership), recently awarded by the U.S. Department of Education to HITN and partners: Callaway Digital Arts and the Michael Cohen Group LLC.
Maryam Banikarim has been named senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Gannett Co., Inc.(NYSE:GCI), a newly created position, Gracia C. Martore, president and chief operating officer announced today. Banikarim, former Univision Chief Marketing Officer, will be responsible for all companywide marketing, communications and research efforts. She will also be a member of the Gannett Management Committee.
