Changing Places: Craig Woischwill, Miguel Sarmiento, Armando Boniche, Linus Karlsson…

Miguel Sarmiento has resigned his post as Managing Editor of New York´s El Diario La Prensa, sources close to Impremedia tell Portada. Sarmiento was Managing Editor since January of 2008 and resigned for "strictly personal reasons".

The Miami Herald announced that VP of Operations Craig Woischwill will become Senior Vice President for Circulation and Operations. Armando Boniche, who has spent the last three years as Director for Circulation Sales and Marketing, will become Director of Circulation, with day-to-day responsibility for the entire division. Terry Whitney, who has been the Miami Herald Media Company's vice president of Circulation since 2005, will retire at the end of this year.   

Eduardo Súarez has been appointed vice president of programming for CNN en Español. The announcement is the latest in a string of new appointments and changes, including new talent, branding and shows, taking a sudden departure from CNN en Español’s focus on 24/7 news. Suárez, a former Mega TV executive, will supervise production teams in Atlanta but will be based in Miami.

Profero announced that industry veteran Aaron Reitkopf has assumed the new title of CEO, The Americas.  In this new role, Reitkopf oversees North American and Latin American operations, reporting to Global CEO and co-founder Wayne Arnold.  Reitkopf was previously CEO of kirshenbaum bond + partners, where he worked for 12 years. The US client roster includes such brands as PepsiCo, Johnson & Johnson, Lufthansa, All Saints and Western Union.

McCann Worldgroup CEO Nick Brien announced today the appointment of Linus Karlsson as Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of McCann Erickson London and New York, effective immediately.  McCann Erickson London executive creative directors Simon Learman and Brian Fraser are departing the agency as Linus Karlsson`s hiring. Karlsson joins McCann Erickson New York and London from Mother NY, which he co-founded in 2003 with long-term business partner and fellow creative Paul Malmstrom.

Strategic branding and advertising agency, Howard, Merrell & Partners announces its newest addition – Proofreader, Scheryl McDavid. In her role, McDavid will proof copy, edit new business proposals, and review marketing and client materials. Prior to joining Howard, Merrell & Partners, McDavid served as publications director and managing editor of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC).

Thania Farrar recently joined Burke, Inc. as a Senior Account Executive in Client Services. Thania comes to Burke from TNS, where she had specialized in multicultural research and most recently served as a Vice President in Key Accounts on the consumer packaged goods business. The latter role entailed covering a wide variety of research issues such as market segmentation, product development and shopper research.

Journal Broadcast Group has announced that Coachella Valley native Raul Rodriguez has joined the broadcast company as vice president and general manager of its Palm Springs operations. Rodriguez comes to Journal Broadcast Group from the News-Press & Gazette Co. in Palm Desert, where he directed Hispanic sales for its radio and television stations.
