Digital media veteran Juan Jose Duran (photo) is joining Google – YouTube. Duran started last Monday as Strategic Development Partnership Manager for YouTube in the U.S. Hispanic market. Until recently Duran worked as Interactive Media Director at Televisa. He is leaving Televisa after 7 years to work on Google’s Hispanic initiatives. Duran will be working closely with Mark Lopez, Head of U.S. Hispanic Audience, but he will not be part of Lopez’s team.
Duran tells Portada that his main aim will be to bring Hispanic content into YouTube through partnerships with all premium content players in the U.S.
His main task will be to develop business with prospective partners.
Online video as a medium, and advertising vehicle, is a very strong category in the general market and the U.S. Hispanic market and a main initiative for Google worldwide.
