Burson-Marsteller has appointed Mike Fernandez U.S. CEO, effective immediately. Fernandez succeeds Michael Law who becomes Worldwide Executive Vice President, also effective immediately. Both Fernandez and Law will report to Worldwide President Kevin Bell.Fernandez joined Burson-Marsteller in September 2016 as Chair, Global Corporate and Financial. Most recently, Fernandez led global corporate affairs at Cargill, where for six years he was responsible for communications, brand and marketing services, government relations, and corporate social responsibility.
Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) announced that Rosemary Mercedes has been promoted to executive vice president and chief communications officer, effective immediately. Mercedes, who has been serving as interim head of Corporate Communications and Public Relations since August 2016, will continue to be based in New York and will report to Randy Falco, president and Chief Executive Officer of UCI.
NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises named Monica Gil to the newly created position of Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs. In this new role, she will have oversight of the company’s corporate communications, government relations, and community relations efforts. In addition, she will also manage high-priority company-wide initiatives across all Telemundo Enterprises business units. Based in Miami, Gil will report directly to Cesar Conde, Chairman, NBCUniversal International Group and NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises.
Rafael Ramirez has joined Newlink as Chief Creative Officer.Ramirez will lead and supervise all Newlink’s regional creative services and handle the Multicultural Marketing area of the company, working for clients like Coca-Cola and ESPN.
Iveliesse Malavé, former Vice President of Consumer and Entertainment Public Relations at Univision Communications Inc., launched The CC Shop, a communications collaborative that brings together marketing communications counselors with experience in multicultural marketing, public relations, event management and social media.The boutique agency was co-founded with Favila Budyszewick, previously a Managing Director at Policy Wisdom.
Prior to leading publicity for Univision’s entertainment properties, Malavé was a Senior Vice President at Fleishman-Hillard managing the P&G Beauty Hispanic portfolio of brands.
Favila Budyszewick, Principal, Managing Partner, is an established marketing communications strategist with a wealth of experience in the consumer space in both the U.S. and across Latin America.
David Lynn has been appointed president and CEO of Viacom International Media Networks.
Alan Wurtzel is stepping down as president of research and media development at NBCUniversal.
