According to a recent study by Proyecto Inter-Meios (coordinated by Grupo Meio & Mensagem and PriceWaterhouseCoopers), total turnover for Brazilian media during 2011 was $22.482 billion, of which media billings from ad space sales accounted for $16.385 billion.
These figures reflect an increase of 8.5% compared to 2010.
Internet was the medium with the highest growth, posting a 19.9% ??increase in advertising spending. Dollars spent on Internet ads amounted to 4.2% of the total percentage increase.
Broadcast television captured 63.3% of total advertising dollars spent in 2011, reflecting an increase of 9.2% compared to 2010.
Pay TV also continues to grow in Latin America, and Brazil is no exception: in 2011 it grew by 17.8%, closely matching the growth of Internet ad spending.
Interestingly, movie advertising spending declined by 6.4%.
