Quepasa Corporation, creator and operator of Quepasa.com, the online social network and game platform for the Latino community, today announced that Michael Nicklas, a leading investor and advisor to emerging technology companies in Latin America, was appointed as a company advisor.
"As we have discussed consistently, Brazil continues to grow in strategic importance for Quepasa. We believe the market timing is right for our combined strategy of social advertising and social gaming as the appropriate business models to monetize our growing user base throughout Latin America," said John C. Abbott, chief executive officer of Quepasa. "Michael will make an excellent addition to our advisory board and brings important market insight and significant relationships that could help drive additional acquisitions throughout the region."
Nicklas, for the last three years, has helped develop and invested in a portfolio of companies across the region focused on social media, ecommerce and web publishing. More recently, he has taken on the role of director of portfolio development for publicly traded Ideiasnet, Brazil's Technology/Media/Telecom-focused venture fund. Previous to his focus on Brazil, Nicklas has a long career in U.S. technology companies, including CTO of Univision Online. Nicklas earned his BA in International Studies and Economics from The American University, and was a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Coimbra in Portugal.
