  • Adidas

Adidas has consolidated its global media business. As part of the brand’s drive behind their 2020 ‘Creating the New’ strategy, Adidas will align all areas and territories and has appointed WPP’s MediaCom to execute the holistic approach from September 2018.After a competitive pitch,  MediaCom was selected as the agency to help Adidas and Reebok continue the momentum behind both brands and deliver a winning media approach. The combined brief will be executed across all platforms with a focus on innovation aligned to the brand’s strategic business plan; ‘Creating the New’.The areas of responsibility for the agency teams globally will include media planning, integrated media consultancy and buying, consumer insight and measurement. The two hubs for the global business will be London for Adidas and New York City for Reebok, with MediaCom staff also positioned around key focus locations for the brands across the world.

  • Latam Airlines Brazil

LATAM Airlines Group S.A announced that its consolidated affiliate TAM Linhas Aereas S.A. (“LATAM Airlines Brazil”), does not intend to renew or extend its operating agreement with Multiplus S.A., its loyalty coalition affiliate, after December 31, 2024. Concurrently, LATAM Airlines Brazil announced its intention to offer to acquire all of the common shares in Multiplus that LATAM’s affiliates do not currently own, and to subsequently de-list Multiplus from the B3 Novo Mercado in Brazil and cancel its registration.The acquisition of Multiplus and its full integration into LATAM’s network will, together with LATAM Pass, create what LATAM estimates will be the fourth largest frequent flyer and loyalty program in the world (measured by member base), and will cement the LATAM Group’s relationship with 21.1 million members at Multiplus. Multiplus members’ points and redemption benefits will remain intact, and Multiplus’s commercial partners will benefit from enhanced customer acquisition, retention and share of wallet.

  • Pizza Hut

Yum Brands hopes its new alliance with Telepizza, which was closed last May, will further expand its Pizza Hut brand internationally and that refocusing on a primarily delivery-based store model will help drive sales for the pizza chain. Pizza Hut’s agreement with Telepizza will position the combined companies as the largest pizza chain across Latin America and the Caribbean. The partnership calls for Telepizza to open at least 1,300 new stores over the next 10 years and a minimum of 2,550 stores total over the next 20 years, said David Gibbs, Yum Brands president and CFO, on a Yum Brands earnings call Aug. 2.

  • Avocados From Mexico

Avocados From Mexico (AFM) is kicking off fall football season and gearing up for Hispanic Heritage Month with a targeted line-up of retail promotions, continuing to grow the category while encouraging avo-lovers to “Savor Every Moment” with complementary products for every occasion.The brand is making a stronger connection with shoppers at retail with the launch of its new communications platform, “Savor Every Moment.”   To celebrate the “Savor Every Moment” launch and highlight the fall football season, AFM returns with the “Tastiest Tailgate” program, in partnership with Lime-A-Rita®. The program aims to inspire fans to throw the tastiest, most original, crowd-pleasing tailgate and home-gate feasts with the ultimate go-to’s for any game day celebration: creamy AFM guacamole and an ice cold Lime-A-Rita®. Kicking off on September 16th, National Guacamole Day, Avocados From Mexico will be distributing approximately 700,000 coupons via Facebook to recognize the promotion period and to help encourage consumers to celebrate the holiday. Running through December 31st, the “Tastiest Tailgate” program offers 360° campaign support to increase sales, lift and inspire avocado consumption through store merchandising, consumer savings, in-store radio, digital support, and retail-specific programming.

  • Lexus

Lexus has released its´“A Product of Mastery”  national campaign for its seventh-generation ES luxury sedan. The campaign includes hero TV spot, “Stolen,” created by AOR Team One, and  another 30-second TV spot dubbed “Why Bother.” A series of three digital videos, which will run on paid social and digital this fall, focus on elements of the new ES. Walton Isaacson created original TV spots for black, Hispanic and LGBTQ audiences. IW Group handled the adaptions and translations of the general market creative to target Chinese, Korean, and Asian Indian segments via traditional and non-traditional media, including in-language paid search, streaming, and social, according to the automaker.The national TV spots will air during high-profile prime-time, cable, late night and sports programming. Digital elements include a homepage takeover on The Hollywood Reporter in conjunction with the Emmys, digital and app banners on Yahoo Sports, and segments on ESPN’s Fantasy Focus Football podcast, according to Mediapost. Print ads will run in high-end lifestyle and home design publications. Out-of-home will include high-profile video placements in Capital One Arena (Washington, D.C.) and Times Square.The campaign will run through Oct. 31.

  • Ford

Ford Motor Company has awarded lead creative duties on its upcoming Fall brand campaign to Wieden + Kennedy, the company confirmed.This news comes as the automaker nears the end of a review that was launched in April and encompasses the most visible portions of its massive global advertising business. The review is still active and expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2018. Ford is not only one of the world’s largest advertisers, it is also the holding group’s biggest client.WPP has been Ford’s primary advertising partner for 75 years. The holding group later combined teams from JWT, Y&R, Wunderman, Ogilvy, MEC and Mindshare to create a dedicated Ford division called Team Detroit, which then became Global Team Blue(later GTB). It now maintains 49 offices around the world. GTB handles creative and media for Ford. The competitive review, which kicked off in April, does not include media but  creative, brand strategy, creative and design.

  • Ulta Beauty

Ulta Beauty, one of the largest beauty retailer in the United States, has unveiled a new campaign, which includes a video featuring a diverse cast of different ages, ethnicities, sizes and genders and the tagline “The Possibilities Are Beautiful,” Ad Age reported. The effort replaces an “All Things Beauty, All in One Place” platform launched by the brand in 2015, and aims to redefine how beauty is portrayed.The campaign launches with 60-, 30- and 15-second national TV commercials and a 30-second Spanish-language version. Longer spots to run online will include a male makeup artist and male fashion designer. Featuring more realistic images of beauty is part of Ulta’s strategy to increase sales and continue to grow its loyalty membership base, which now numbers nearly 30 million and has helped the brand stand out, according to Ad Age. The latest campaign is Ulta’s first with McCann New York, which it selected for creative duties in November after a four-month review. The retailer tapped MullenLowe’s Mediahub for media, and previously worked with Mullen on creative. The company rolling out Spanish-language versions of the new spots might help win over Hispanic consumers, who are frequently under-served by marketers and over-index on cause-related purchases.

  • Beauty Pie

Beauty Pie, a beauty buyer’s club that sells luxury-made makeup for drugstore prices, has appointed The Beyond Collective agencies, Above+Beyond and Yonder Media, as the brand’s first creative and media AORs respectively following a competitive review. This account assignment will introduce Beauty Pie’s first traditional advertising both in the UK and the U.S. The media for the digital launch will be managed by Above+Beyond’s sister agency Yonder Media, run by Ed Cox formerly of Havas Media.

  • GOL Linhas Aéreas

Boeing and GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes celebrated the unveiling of the carrier’s newly outfitted 737 MAX 8 during a celebration in Sao Paulo. The leading Brazilian carrier also announced plans to fly the more fuel-efficient and longer-range 737 airplane on international routes.As part of its strategic fleet renewal program, GOL has placed multiple orders for the 737 MAX, including a new order last month at the Farnborough International Airshow. In all, GOL is on track to become the largest MAX operator in Latin America with a fleet of 135 MAX airplanes.The first MAX airplanes arriving at GOL are the MAX 8 variant, which seats up to 186 passengers in GOL’s configuration. The airplane will reduce GOL’s fuel use and emissions by 15 percent compared to today’s single-aisle airplanes, and can fly farther than its predecessor. With the additional range, GOL said it will begin regular service from Brazil’s capital Brasilia and Fortaleza to Miami and Orlando. GOL also plans new international routes to Quito, the capital of Ecuador, with the MAX.

  • Mondelez Brazil

Mondelez International is expanding its´biscuits & snacks category in Latin America with the launch of an exclusive Oreo chocolates line for Mexico. Mondelez has decided to take on the challenge of producing and exporting chocolates in the company’s largest chocolate factory in Latin America, located in Curitiba, South Brazil. Four new products will be manufactured in Curitiba´s  plant. The chocolate category, which accounts for 31.3% of Mondelez International’s net profit in 2017, is one of the leading business and growth drivers for the company.

 

 

  • Grand Hyatt Bogota

Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced the opening of Grand Hyatt Bogota, marking the first Hyatt hotel in the Colombian capital and the first Grand Hyatt branded hotel in Colombia.   • Travel Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires’ government announced this week plans to implement a new bill that will offer tax incentives to the city’s hospitality industry in an effort to expand offerings and accommodate the projected tourism growth. The bill will benefit hoteliers who build new properties or undertake renovations or substantial expansions to current hotels.The Argentine capital is preparing to receive an increase of international tourists in 2018 and 2019. Flight reservations made in the first half of 2018 for travel to Buenos Aires between July 2018 and June 2019 grew 30%.The city government also announced an increase of 25% in bookings for travel between July – Dec 2018. Reservations made from Auckland and Sidney, Australia grew by 94%, followed by London (+76%), Frankfurt (+39%), Bogota (+23%), Madrid (+17%) and the United States (+16%). Room occupancy rates showcased a solid increase and reached the highest its been in the last seven years with over 58% occupancy between January and April 2018.Based on the projections of growth in the next few years, it has been deemed necessary to expand the hotel offerings in the city. Studies that apply big data techniques reveal that there are opportunities to improve the hotel competitiveness of Buenos Aires at a regional level.

  • FCB Health

FCB Health is opening its first-ever dedicated offering in Latin America with FCB Health Brasil. The São Paulo-based shop will be led by Aurélio Lopes, CEO of FCB Brasil and chairman of FCB Latin America, along with Diego Freitas and Mauro Arruda as managing directors. Freitas and Arruda previously worked at Havas Life São Paulo, where Freitas served as executive vice president and executive creative director, and Arruda was chief creative officer and chief executive officer.The shop will work closely with FCB Health’s New York headquarters and operate similarly to the network’s other global healthcare centers by providing full-service offerings to healthcare clients. For now the 15-person team is working on global projects that need a “Latin American point of view,” while working to build up its own client roster.

In an effort to provide the Latino communities it serves with access to financial education, Curacao, the largest Hispanic-centric retailer on the West Coast, serving diverse communities in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Tucson, and Phoenix, is partnering with Operation HOPE Inc., a global financial dignity and economic empowerment nonprofit organization, to provide monthly bilingual in-store classes to help customers learn about credit, budgeting and other topics that will enable them to achieve financial success. Canvas Worldwide has been appointed kitchen appliance maker Breville´s global media AOR following a formal review. The agency will handle all media communications, planning and activation responsibilities across all channels for all Breville’s products.Canvas already handled the U.S. assignment and will now service the account across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.Breville spends around US$40 million on measured media.

 

 

 

  • CELSIUS® drinks

Celsius Holdings, Inc., maker of globally marketed performance CELSIUS® drinks, announced that Target, GNC and 7-Eleven stores, along with Military Exchanges worldwide and top-tier fitness distributors and retailers nationwide, including Gold’s Gym corporate locations, will now sell CELSIUS® Sparkling Kiwi Guava, the newest flavor from its Originals line.   • Northgate Supermarket

 

Northgate Gonzalez Supermarket — an Anaheim-based chain that essentially created the Latino supermarket business in the United States — wants to transform historic Santa Ana downtown location on 409 E. Fourth Street into a mixed-use development.The company announced that it would transform its Fourth Street spot into “a new mixed‐use residential development featuring high quality residences and public‐serving commercial areas, including a possible restaurant and fresh, urban market.”The market would be about 3,000 square feet — a fifth of its current size.Northgate has six locations in Santa Ana alone, out of 40 total .

  • Rappi

On-demand delivery platform Rappi has appointed Ogilvy Mexico as its regional agency. Founded in 2015, the company nowadays operates in 23 cities in six LatAm countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay. Rappi landed the mexican market two years ago and has already more than one million users who make nearly 50,000 daily orders. It currently operates in the State of Mexico, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Monterrey, Mérida, Puebla and, of course, Mexico City. Rappi´s Marketing Director Carlos Leal is a member of Portada´s Brand Star Committee LatAm.

 

 

  • United Airlines

United Continental Holdings Inc is eying joint ventures with three Latin American carriers in the near future, Reuters has reported.United, the third-largest U.S. passenger carrier, is trying to finalize joint-venture agreements with Colombian airline Avianca Holdings , Panama’s Copa Airlines and Brazil’s Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras. Such deals would improve connectivity between the U.S. and Latin American aviation markets and create growth opportunities.United is looking to add lie-flat beds in business class in 2020 on some of its Boeing 737 MAX 10 narrow-bodies that would fly domestic routes.

 

 

  • Holiday Inn

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) announced the new opening of the 4-story, 196-room Holiday Inn Ciudad Juárez hotel. Located on Juarez Tecnologico Avenue 3620, Partido Iglesias neighborhood, and a few minutes from the Abraham Gonzalez International Airport serving Ciudad Juarez, the hotel opens following an investment made by its franchisee Fibra Inn of more than MX$ 211 million pesos.Owned by Fibra Inn and managed by Grupo Hotelero Prisma, the Holiday Inn Ciudad Juarez hotel is franchised by an affiliate of IHG. Fibra Inn, who currently has 15 hotels under the IHG family of brands, is one of the longest-standing owner groups in Mexico. The Holiday Inn brand is part of IHG’s diverse family of brands in nearly 100 countries and territories.

  • Iberia

Iberia is boosting its services to Latin America with three additional weekly flights to both Buenos Aires and Mexico City. As of 27 October, the Spanish airline will raise the number of flights from 14 to 17 times a week to Buenos Aires, which it has served since 1946. Iberia is also scheduling 17 flights a week between Madrid and Mexico City for the 2018/2019 winter season, three more than in the past .Iberia is the leading airline on routes linking Europe and Latin America, with 254 flights each week to destinations in 16 countries. In addition to its Buenos Aires and Mexico City routes, the airline is adding flights to Santiago, Chile (from one daily flight to 10 per week), Rio de Janeiro (from four to five times a week) and San Juan, Puerto Rico (24% more seats than in the 2018 summer season), On 1 October it will also launch daily flights to Guatemala City (currently four flights per week).

 

  • Norwegian

Low-cost Norwegian Air is interested in operating domestic flights within Brazil, as it plans its debut in Latin America’s largest economy in March with a flight between Sao Paolo and England.The airline’s interest was made public by Brazil’s tourism minister Vinicius Lummertz, who said Norwegian can start operating international flights with approval earlier this month from Brazilian flights regulator Anac.Norwegian has not specified the destination in England.Foreign airlines cannot incorporate in Brazil, but Congress is reviewing a proposal to change the law. If approved, Lummertz said, Norwegian could slash domestic flight costs by half.The Brazilian domestic market is dominated by four main airlines, Latam Airlines Group SA, Gol Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes SA, Azul SA and Avianca Holdings SA, all of which posted net losses in the most recent quarter, due to higher oil prices and local currency devaluation.

United Airlines has launched a global media and digital agency reviews, according to Campaign that reported the news first. Wavemaker is the airline´s media incumbent agency while Wunderman handles digital.United spent around US$31 million on measured media in the U.S. last year, according to Kantar Media.

 

 

 

 

  • Rite Aid

After winning Rite Aid‘s AOR account, Havas North America will create a specialized in-house team to handle the account. Rite Aid’s will be run out of the agency’s New York office. MARC USA was the incumbent.Havas Creative, Havas Health & You, TRIPTK, Havas helia and Havas Media will all work on the account. This partnership will first kick off with an integrated marketing campaign in support of the company’s 2018-19 immunization program, beginning this fall. Rite Aid’s ad budget was US$20.5 million in 2017, according to Kantar Media.

 

 

 

  • Allstate

Allstate continues its support of Latino sports and culture with title sponsorship of Alianza de Futbol’s “Sueño Alianza” program.The brand signed on as the title sponsor of Alianza de Futbol’s “Sueño Alianza” program, which provides an opportunity for young Latino soccer players across the country to be scouted by professional clubs for a shot at soccer stardom. Jonathan Gonzalez, who was found by his current club, Monterrey, at the 2013 Allstate Sueño Alianza National Showcase, will serve as the spokesman for the program.Allstate was previously Alianza de Futbol’s official insurance sponsor and a sponsor of the Mexican federation in its activities in the United States.The Alianza de Futbol announcement was part of Allstate high school launch program, to recognize the nation’s top high school juniors and bring them together for an Allstate All-America Cup to be held at the 2019 MLS All-Star Game and televised on ESPNU. In all, 125 male and 125 female players will be named Allstate All-Americans, and of them 40 males and 40 females will be selected to play in the Allstate All-America Cup. The players will be honored at halftime of the 2019 MLS All-Star Game. CKE Restaurants, owner of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s, has selected LaForce as its PR AOR. LaForce will conceive and produce all consumer-media-facing communications strategies for both brands, including brand storytelling, new menu items and location openings. The firm will also spearhead corporate communication programs comprised of executive and leadership strategies, media relations, and CSR, according to a statement. The agency has helped to launch a range of products including Carl’s Jr. El Diablo Thickburger, Hardee’s Hot Chicken Sandwich, and, across both brands, All Day Sliders.

  • McDonald’s

OMD and Starcom are the two agencies chosen in the McDonald’s global media review to split the fast food chain Latin America media account. Latin America is one of the three McDonald’s markets where the global review has concluded.The review was conducted by Ebiquity.

Media agency Initiative, part of the IPG Mediabrands network, will be in charge of paper company CMPC (Compañía Manufacturera de Papeles y Cartones) media account for Latin America. Amazon has announced that its´ virtual assistant Alexa will soon speak Spanish as the company prepares to localize its smart virtual assistant for its first Latin American market. As of today, the Alexa Skills Kit (ASK)  — a set of self-service APIs and tools for adding skills to Alexa — is available for developers to begin building voice-enabled features for consumers in Mexico. No date has been given for Alexa’s launch in the country, but it will be “later this year,” according to the company. With the addition of Mexican Spanish, Alexa will now be localized for 11 markets, though just six languages. Indeed, Alexa is available in English (U.S., U.K., India, Canada, and Australia), French (France), German (Germany), Italian (Italy), Japanese (Japan), and Spanish (Spain and Mexico).

Avianca Airlines inaugurated a trio of Latin American flights from Orlando International Airport.Since 2011, the airline has provided a daily flight from Orlando to Bogota, Colombia.The three new flights are: daily to Lima, Peru; four times a week to San Salvador, El Salvador; and three times a week to Guatemala City, Guatemala.Orlando International Airport’s international business has grown from 3.3 million passengers annually in 2011 to 6.2 million currently.Airline officials expect the bulk of tickets for the Guatemala and El Salvador flights to be sold in those countries, while the Peru flight will bring a more even mix of tickets sold in the U.S. and Colombia.The airline was founded in Colombia in the early 1900s but is now based at three hubs: Bogota, San Salvador and Lima.

Anheuser-Busch says the images will be available royalty-free through photo sites Pexels and Unsplash, and feature four of the craft breweries now owned by Anheuser-Busch: Four Peaks in Tempe, Arizona; 10 Barrel in Bend, Oregon; Karbach in Houston; and Veza Sur in Miami. In 2017, 39 percent of beer drinkers identified as female, according to Mintel’s Beer and Craft Beer report, while 32 percent identify as African-American, Hispanic, Asian, or otherwise non-white according to Anheuser-Busch market research. A good number of beer drinkers who weren’t typically finding themselves represented in mainstream beer photography, marketing materials, and design. Smirnoff parent Diageo has begun releasing limited-edition bottles with designs inspired by specific North American cities.The first two bottles, for California and Chicago, will be available at retail through November.Each design features a locally resonant image on the front and references to local language and customs on the back.Absolut has released an “Absolut World” version that “aims to bring people together by defying the distances between us and carving out new connections across international borders,” according to the brand. “Absolut World” is part of a global campaign from parent Pernod Ricard encouraging people around the world to take selfies and share tips about the hotspots and hangouts they love within their home cities.Once uploaded, the selfies become part of a mosaic of faces of participants, along with their names, locations, and hotspot recommendations.“The platform will connect travelers from all around the world and unlock experiences that bring people together,” explained Lisa McCann, brand director, Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail.Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail is promoting the bottle and campaign in airports in key global markets.

As a current shareholder of 51.145% of PLM Premier, Grupo Aeromexico has made a non-binding proposal for the acquisition of the shares currently held by Aimia Inc (“Aimia”), representing 48.855% on a fully diluted basis, for an amount of US$180 million US dollars. Aeromexico has informed Aimia that the current contract between PLM and Grupo Aeromexico, that establishes the basis of operation for the loyalty program Club Premier, will not be extended beyond its current expiration date. Given the long-term intention of Aeromexico to take full control of its loyalty program, Aeromexico does not consider an IPO of PLM as an acceptable option. For this reason it is Aeromexico’s view that the best long term solution for all stakeholders is for Aeromexico to acquire the equity stake currently held by Aimia.   • JetBlue

JetBlue announced the addition of two new routes to feature the airline’s popular premium service with lie-flat seating. Later this year, JetBlue will begin operating seasonal Saturday Mint service between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Liberia, Costa Rica’s Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR), and between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and St. Lucia’s Hewanorra International Airport (UVF). Liberia becomes JetBlue’s first Mint city in Latin America and JetBlue will be the only airline to operate regularly scheduled flights with a lie-flat premium seat between Costa Rica and the U.S. With the addition of Liberia, JetBlue will now serve 12 cities with Mint flights from its New York-JFK focus city. In Boston, where JetBlue is the top airline in both number of flights and number of customers, new St. Lucia Mint service will bring Mint to nine routes from Logan. No other airline in Boston offers a premium lie-flat seat on as many routes.

Chinese multinational technology company Lenovo has appointed Publicis Media to handle is global media strategy, planning and buying, as it consolidated agencies. Lenovo spends some US$125 million on advertising annually globally and Publicis Media will set up a new dedicated unit, Lenovo One Media, to handle the account. The unit will combine staff from Publicis Media agencies Spark Foundry and Performics. It will be responsible for 28 markets across the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia and Asia Pacific. Both traditional and digital media platforms are included as part of the account. Lenovo One Media will be overseen by Andre Marciano who will serve as chief operating officer.

 

 

  • Rappi

Colombian platform Rappi has just been launched in Chile. The service was launched in Santiago and allows home delivery from supermarkets, pharmacies, liquor stores, kiosks, warehouses, among other shops. Rappi is a platform that was born as a startup. It was created by Colombians Simón Borrero (CEO), Sebastián Mejía and Felipe Villamarín, in Bogotá. It was the first company to reach a million orders delivered in LATAM. It currently operates in Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and now, in Chile. With nearly 2 million downloads in Latin America, Rappi promises an average delivery time of 35 minutes for restaurants and liquor stores.   • GOL Airlines

Boeing and GOL Airlines announced that the Brazilian carrier is adding the newest and largest member of the 737 MAX family with a new contract that converts 30 current MAX orders to the 737 MAX 10. GOL also placed a new order for 15 more MAX 8 airplanes, growing GOL’s total MAX orders to 135. The Brazilian airline says the advanced airplanes will help GOL meet its commitment to further enhance operational efficiency by flying a young, modern and safe fleet.GOL took delivery of its first 737 MAX airplane last month, kicking off a fleet renewal that will continue through 2028. The all-Boeing operator is set to be the largest MAX operator in Latin America. The 737 MAX is the fastest-selling airplane in Boeing history, with 100 customers ordering more than 4,600 jets.

 

 

  • Radisson 

Radisson announced the opening of Radisson Hotel Panama Canal. The hotel has a prime location in Panama City with breathtaking views of the Panama Canal, along with being just minutes away from Albrook International Airport. It is also within walking distance to the Amador Convention Center, which is scheduled to open December 2018. The hotel was originally a Country Inn & Suites by Radisson and recently completed a nearly $2 million renovation to convert the property into a Radisson.”We are honored to open our doors under the Radisson brand in the beautiful Panama City,” said Guillermo Quijano Duran, the hotel’s vice president. “The hotel’s new look features the brand’s natural tones and a design that puts the guest experience at the forefront allowing them to relax and create memorable moments throughout their stay.”

Spanish startup Glovo, whose platform lets app users summon a gig economy worker to shop on their behalf, has bagged a €115 million (US$134M) Series C round of funding. The lead investors in the Series C are Rakuten Capital, Seaya Ventures and Cathay Innovation, which had also invested in its Series B.The startup says the new funding will be put towards optimizing its platform and tech resources to improve the service to riders, users and associated stores.It also plans to use the funds to fuel its momentum, noting it’s opened up six countries and 20 cities around the world in just three months. Its regions of focus are Latin America and EMEA areas (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), and its app is available in 61 cities in 17 countries in all at this stage.

IPG media agency Initiative has resigned as Papa John’s media agency, after originally saying it would continue to work with the pizza chain amid controversy surrounding racist comments made by founder John Schnatter, Ad Age first reported. The move follows the resignations of Papa John’s PR agency Olson Engage last week and creative agency Fallon this week.  Papa John’s is a large advertiser with more than 3,500 locations nationwide and an ad budget of around US$130 million annually.

Corona President Bill Newlands said Four Corners has been able to capitalize on a hot beer trend: Hispanic-influenced products.Four Corners, a Dallas craft brewer, produces Local Buzz Honey-Rye Golden Ale and El Chingón IPA, among other beers.Buying Four Corners signals Constellation’s increased focus on marketing its beer lineup to Hispanic people, one of the fastest-growing segments of the American population.The group is a key demographic for Constellation, accounting for 40% of the company’s sales.The companies did not disclose terms of the deal and expects the beers to appeal to the broader consumer market because of the popularity of Hispanic-themed drinks and foods, and drinkers’ desire to experiment with new brands. Ecommerce giant Amazon has increasingly been making attempts to work directly with bigger brands making large media buys on its platform, and, as a result, many of those brands are bypassing their ad agencies, Digiday has reported. Amazon is said to be sending its sales team to meet directly with marketers and chief marketing officers, offering them to use Amazon Marketing Services not only for media buying but also to get help with other strategies for using the platform. Nestlé has concluded its´ U.S. creative agency review, for some of its´brands, that began last April. WPP and Publicis Groupe are the big winners in the review, while IPG has expanded its relationship with the company. Grey, J. Walter Thompson, Casanova//McCann and Publicis each won new business in the recently-concluded review.The review primarily concerned frozen meals, prepared foods, coffee and ice cream, with multiple brands up for review.Grey won agency of record duties on the Fit Kitchen, Outshine, Lean Cuisine and Haagen Dazs lines. JWT kept the Stouffer’s business and won creative AOR work for Buitoni pasta moving forward, sources said. Publicis consolidated its frozen pizza brands (DiGiorno’s, Tombstone, Jack’s and California Pizza Kitchen) and assigned lead duties on Coffee-Mate to the group, according to multiple parties. McCann’s Hispanic network Casanova//McCann expanded its responsibilities on Nescafé, Nesquik and other unspecified product lines. The review did not affect Nestlé’s relationships with other agencies like WPP´s GroupM, which handles Nestle’s U.S. media account since 2013. Nestlé spent around US$619 million on paid media across its brand portfolio in 2017, according to Kantar Media.

Florida Blue’s internal agency Guidewell Connect has selected full-service marketing firm Pinta for Hispanic Advertising on Florida Blue account. The agency will handle  creative work across television, radio, print, outdoor, online and community outreach. Part of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, Florida Blue offers affordable health insurance to Individuals, Businesses, and Medicare Individuals.

Last year, Airbnb partnered with the NAACP to help encourage more people of color to list their properties on the site and hoping to benefit not only African-American and Hispanic property owners, but also nearby businesses given, according to Airbnb. However, guest spending  is much greater in predominantly white neighborhoods compared to black or Hispanic neighborhoods, MarketWatch has reported.“When we focus on the predominantly white areas, the estimates suggest that there is a 4% employment increase in the service industry in response to a 2% increase in Airbnb activity. In contrast, our estimates suggest that in predominantly black or Hispanic areas, despite Airbnb activity, guests aren’t going to restaurants at the significant level that would cause them to hire more employees,” according to a study  by Purdue University Krannert School of Management professor Mohammad Saifur Rahman and Ph.D. student Mohammed Alyakoob.

Corona Premier and Corona Familiar – the first major Corona innovations in over 25 years – are already exceeding sales expectations, according to Constellation Brands. The beer marketer is also experimenting with premium refresher Corona Refresca in test markets. Corona Premier and Corona Familiar were launched last March in Constellation Brands´ major Hispanic markets. Corona Refresca, which comes in guava lime and passionfruit lime flavors, is marketed as a “premium spiked refresher” targeting women from 25 through 29 years old. The Svedka seltzer borrows the name of Svedka vodka, which is owned by Constellation. Corona Refresca was recently introduced in a handful of local markets, before deciding to go national, supported by English and Spanish language tv campaigns. Constellation took a similar approach with its new low-calorie Corona Premier brand, which was sold in regional markets before going national this year.   • Albertsons

Publix Supermarkets Inc. has entered into an agreement with Idaho based Albertsons to buy three Safeway stores in Florida. Financial terms of the agreement were undisclosed, Abasto has reported. The three locations will continue operating under the Safeway banner until early September and will have grand opening dates with the Publix banners within the fourth quarter of this year.In 2008, Albertsons sold off most of its Florida stores, including 49 stores in a single deal to Publix, but held on to three locations in Altamonte Springs, Largo and Oakland Park. Now, with this deal, Albertsons will have no retail presence in Florida.Publix is Florida’s largest supermarket chain and currently has 1,187 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.

  • California Milk Processor Board (CMPB)

Gallegos United has released its first work for the California Milk Processor Board (CMPB) after winning the account from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, Mediapost has reported. The new campaign, called “You Can Always Count on Milk,” shows a lack of demographic checkpoints as the brand wants to reflect that today’s market doesn’t need demographic silos in order to be “culturally attune.” The first phase of the new campaign includes TV, with spots both in English and Spanish, as well as a newly redesigned gotmilk.com. The campaign will run across online video, social media, retail point-of-sale, mobile push notifications, and, for the first time, search engine buys to link up with parents seeking questions like “how much milk can I serve my child?” or “is milk healthy for me? “The iconic Got Milk? tagline will continue to be placed at the end of the ads due to its “strong brand equity.”
