Grande Sports Academy (“GSA”) and FC Barcelona (“FCB”) have announced the appointment of Denis Silva as Barça Academy AZ’s Technical Director. Barça Academy is a partnership between FC Barcelona, one of the most famous soccer teams in the world. Silva will oversee the player development, coaching education and implementation of the renowned FC Barcelona training methodology at the full time year round residency program in Casa Grande, Arizona.Silva carries a UEFA PRO License and has a history of coaching youth players at the highest level in La Masía, the youth Academy of FC Barçelona in Barcelona, Spain. Silva joined FC Barcelona in 2010 and served in various coaching roles with the Club including the Head Coach of both the U13 and U14 academy teams. Silva speaks Spanish, Catalan, and English and brings a host of worldly experience both on the field and in the classroom that makes his hiring so outstanding for Barça Academy.

 

MEC announced that Amanda Richman has been named CEO USA. Once the merger between MEC and Maxus is complete, Richman will take charge of the new agency. Richman will join the agency in October and reports to Tim Castree.As President of Investment at Starcom USA, Amanda Richman architected and led the agency’s cross-channel investment practice across clients including Airbnb, Bank of America, Kraft Heinz and Samsung.  Previously, Richman served as the President of Digital for Mediavest. Prior to joining SMG, Richman held digital leadership roles at The Interpublic Group as Managing Director of their first digital agency, and at Time Warner leading client services for their interactive television division.

 

 

DeLu Jackson has been appointed VP of precision marketing at Conagra. He was most recently digital VP at Kellogg and prior to that held marketing positions at several automakers.

 

 

 

 

 

Spanish-language entertainment cable network Universo and Vice Media have announced the first show, called “Universo Vice,” as part of its partnership to reach the young, Hispanic market in the U.S. with Vice’s content.In May, Vice Media announced a partnership to produce content for NBCUniversal’s two Spanish-language networks, Telemundo and Universo, to tap into the millennial U.S. Hispanic market.This marks the first time Vice has produced a TV show specifically to reach this audience.According to the PEW Research Center, Latinos represent 20% of the U.S. millennial population.“Universo Vice” will feature 10, one-hour episodes, hosted by Beto Ruiz. Each episode will feature four stories. The episodes spotlight the artists who make counterfeit money, the Mexican government’s fight against drug cartels, and the legal trade of exotic animals.The show will premiere Sunday, August 20 on the Universo channel, which reaches 40 million households across the U.S.

 

 

WPP agency VML has promoted God-is Rivera to director of inclusion and cultural resonance, a newly created position at the agency. She will report to Ronnie Felder, managing director of human resources. In 2016, Rivera joined VML’s social-media practice.
 

 

 

PebblePost® announced the appointment of BuzzFeed President Greg Coleman to its Board of Directors. Coleman, president of BuzzFeed, joins PebblePost’s Board of Directors as a veteran in the advertising and media space. He previously served as President of Criteo, in addition to President and Chief Revenue Officer at Huffington Post and EVP of Global Sales at Yahoo. Coleman also held roles as President of Platform-A at AOL, Senior Vice President of Reader’s Digest Association, President of U.S. Magazine Publishing, and Vice President and National Sales Manager for Woman’s Day at CBS, Inc.

 

 

 

 

Russell Nuzzo has been appointed Gain Theory’s, the media and marketing consultancy housed within WPP’s GroupM, has appointed global head of attribution and marketing technologies.  Nuzzo shifts to the newly created role from GroupM where he was head of analytics services.  At Gain Theory he’ll work with clients such as Diageo, Target, Unilever, HomeAway, Vodafone and Aldi.

 

 

 

 

Roger Lynch has been named chief executive officer of Pandora, replacing Tim Westergren, who resigned in June. Naveen Chopra, Pandora chief financial officer, had served as interim CEO since Westergren’s departure. He continues in his CFO post. Lynch was most recently executive VP, advanced technologies at Dish Network and EchoStar. Before that he was chairman and CEO of Video Networks International.

 

 

 

Time Inc. has appointed Lori Leibovich Editor-in-Chief of HEALTH, effective immediately. Leibovich will also oversee digital for TIME HEALTH, a new company-wide initiative that draws on the full portfolio of Time Inc.’s brands, including TIME, HEALTH, FORTUNE, COOKING LIGHT, REAL SIMPLE, MY RECIPES, SOUTHERN LIVING and PEOPLE. In addition, Clare McHugh has been named Senior Director for Edit Operations. Leibovich succeeds McHugh as HEALTH Editor-in-Chief. Most recently, Leibovich was Time Inc.’s Digital Director of Women’s Content.

 

 

 

Commercial director Raúl B Fernández has officially signed with Cap Gun Collective. Fluent in all mediums including broadcast, web, mobile, and VR, Raúl has worked with brands such as Toyota, Chevrolet, Amazon, Johnnie Walker, Coca-Cola, Heinz, Captain Morgan, and Durex—and has won awards including a Cannes Lion and a D&AD Pencil. Born in Buenos Aires, Raúl lived up and down the western hemisphere for much of his youth before attending the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, where he received a Masters in film. He also graduated from the UCB School of Improv Comedy. It’s arguable which education was a better investment.
