- NewCo
NewCo has unveiled its new global structure. In a move that underscores its commitment to cost efficiency, the new GroupM agency formed by MEC and Maxus will remove existing regional management structures. NewCo will not be run at the APAC, EMEA or LATAM levels. Instead, the firm’s top eight global markets that compromise 70 percent of its revenues will report directly to MEC global CEO Tim Castree. NewCo will be able to lean on GroupM at the regional level for operational support. Remaining regional capabilities will now either move in-market or within client solutions groups. There will also be a new centralized global services structure made up of three groups.
- Alaska Airlines
Alaska Airlines has launched service to Mexico City’s Benito Juarez International Airport from two major California hubs: San Francisco International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport. Later this fall, Alaska Airlines will also add service from San Diego International Airport to Mexico City, becoming the only airline to serve Mexico City from all three California gateways. The launch to Mexico City kicks off the most significant network expansion in Alaska Air Group’s 85-year history with 29 new routes launching through the end of 2017.The new service is the ninth destination Alaska serves to Mexico from California, including Cancun, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Loreto, Los Cabos, Manzanillo, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announces the opening of the Holiday Inn Express Tuxpan hotel in Veracruz, Mexico. - LG Electronics
Ogilvy Mexico, the agency led by Verónica Hernández and Checha Agost Carreño, has expanded its business relationship with giant LG electronics. From now on, Ogilvy Mexico will take over digital communications and social networks of the renowned Korean global technology brand. In Mexico, LG comprises 4 business units (Home Entertainment, Mobile Communications, White Line & Air Conditioning and Business Solutions). Ogilvy Mexico will continue handling PR for LG Mexico.
