After almost seven years at ESPN, Gaby Nuñez is heading off to begin a new chapter in her career. Nuñez will be joining Telemundo’s communications team to lead PR efforts for their sports content. Gaby’s last day at ESPN was last Friday, Feb. 17.“Thank you for the opportunity you all have given me to promote the ESPN Deportes and ESPN International brands via your stories while also giving visibility to amazing projects that speak to the power of sports and Latinos. I look forward to continue working with you in the future,” Nuñez said.
Andy Lund as its newest Design Director.In this position, Lund will be responsible for leading and overseeing visual design across brand identities, web design, advertising, social content and mobile products created for clients. Prior to joining GALLEGOS United, Lund served as Design Director in Carmichael Lynch’s Minneapolis office.
Additionally, in an effort to evolve the agency further into the digital space, GALLEGOS United has promoted Chris Mellow to the position of Executive Director of Activation. Mellow will join the agency’s leadership team and will be responsible for ensuring that all of Gallegos UNITED’s work is innovative and uses the numerous digital and social tools available to the agency and its clients.Mellow has been with GALLEGOS United, formerly known as Grupo Gallegos, for more than five years and previously served as the agency’s Director of Digital Engagement.
VARCom Solutions president, Raul Danny Vargas, was recently elected by the board of director of the Friends of the National Museum of the American Latino to become its new chairman. Friends of the National Museum of the American Latino strives to create a museum in our nation's capital to educate, inspire and encourage respect and understanding of the richness and diversity of the American Latino experience within the U.S. and its territories by highlighting the contributions made by Latino leaders, pioneers and communities to the American way of life.
Shine Entertainment Media has appointed Rosalba Zepeda Tielve to new VP of Business Development for the Entertainment and Digital Division, HispanicAd reports. The move is effective immediately. Prior to joining Shine she has held increasingly senior sales and marketing roles in North and South America, Europe and Southeast Asia.
US fashion brand Ralph Lauren has appointed Jonathan Bottomley as its first Chief Marketing Officer. Bottomley, a former managing partner at ad agency BBH, joins Ralph Lauren from his role as Chief Strategy Officer of Virtue, a Vice Media Company. Bottomley will lead the global marketing team and building. He will report to Valerie Hermann, president of Global Brands.
The brand has also appointed Tom Mendenhall as brand president, Men’s Polo, Purple Label and Double RL. Mendenhall joins from Tom Ford.
Miami-based creative agency Alma Ad has announced an expansion of their management team:
Jorge Murillo is now VP, Executive Creative Director, leading the McDonald’s creative teams and co-create with McDonald’s new agency model We Are Unlimited. He will also oversee projects on the rest of Alma’s total culture brands.
Angela Rodriguez, who has been with Alma for 14 years and started as an Account Executive, was promoted to VP of Strategic Insights last year.
VP of Digital Michael Sotelo was recruited from Facebook recently along with VP Group Account Director Beatriz del Amo, who previously led accounts like P&G and General Mills for Conill Miami.
