WPP’s JWT chairman-CEO Gustavo Martinez is no longer part of the agency. He will be replaced by Tamara Ingram, currently chief client team officer at WPP. Martinez is out after CCO at JWT Erin Johnson, chief communications officer at JWT, filed lawsuit claiming that Mr. Martinez made multiple “racist and sexist slurs.”
Noticias Telemundo announced the addition of journalist and anchor Luis Carlos Vélez as co-anchor of “Noticiero Telemundo Fin de Semana” alongside journalist Felicidad Aveleyra, starting this Saturday, March 19 at 5 PM E/4 C. Vélez will replace journalist Edgardo Del Villar, who will continue with Telemundo as a member of its award-winning news team.Prior to joining Telemundo, Vélez was news director and anchor for Noticias Caracol in Colombia. He was also a reporter and anchor at CNN International and CNN en Español, based in New York City.
Telemundo Phoenix / KTAZ has announced that Paola Morales has been named Multi-Media Journalist for Noticiero Telemundo Arizona, which airs weekdays at 4:30 PM, 5 PM and 10 PM and is simulcast on Telemundo Tucson / KHRR. Morales will join an enterprising team of journalists to deliver the live, local breaking news and information that is important to the Hispanic community in Arizona. Morales, who has worked as a freelancer for Telemundo Tucson for the past six months, has vast experience in reporting for Hispanic audiences all throughout Arizona. Prior to joining Telemundo, Morales worked as a reporter for Azteca America’s local television in Tucson and for the radio station La Poderosa 105.3 FM. Morales earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Science from Universidad de Sonora in Mexico. She resides in Phoenix, Arizona.
Andres Ordonez has been named chief creative officer at Energy BBDO. Prior to this appointment, Ordonez was the global lead on Wrigley.Mr. Ordonez has extensive multicultural experience and began his career at Ruiz Nicoli in Spain and then moved to BBDO Puerto Rico.
Publicis’ MRY Agency has made some adjustments. Most of the changes hit the Publicis agency’s New York headquarters, where all departments were involved, according to Agencyspy. At least 30 employees would leave and the share of total staff affected is between 25 and 30 percent.The news follows the recently departures of multiple executives. MRY became part of Starcom MediaVest and merged with DigitasLBi in recent years but was left out of statements regarding Publicis Groupe’s recent restructuring announcement. The agency will continue operating as before and will reassign many of its remaining employees.
