Alvaro Palacios has been named Managing Director, Televisa Publishing and Digital, based in Miami. He will be leading all U.S. based operations of Televisa Publishing and Digital. Palacios tells Portada that "Televisa is a dominant force when it comes to content development and distribution. We are now able to offer advertisers access to our complete offering across Pay TV, digital, and print." Previously Palacios worked as SVP Sales and Marketing at DLA, Inc. Prior positions in Palacios' career include VP Managing Director Americas at Prisa as well as Regional Director Business Development at Terra Networks USA. Wally Sabria is the new VP Operations at MasterClass Automotive, an auto repair facility specializing in high-line, European vehicles As VP Operations, Sabria manages all aspects of the business operations, including supplier contracting and digital marketing.
TuYo, the first IPTV network owned and developed by Hispanic entertainment executives, will provide free, a la carte and pay-per-content channel bilingual and multicultural entertainment options for viewers when it debuts in July. The network allows users to choose between curated content channels or the ability to create their own viewing grid within the digital network’s content mix of original series, scripted series, documentary films, novelas, reality, sports, gaming and news programming. TuYo is already found on AppleTV, Roku, Google Chrome and Fire Fly TV; and can be downloaded on any Apple/Android, smart TV or tablet. Francisco Lopez-Balboa has joined Univision Communications as chief financial officer. He was most recently a managing director and head of telecom, media and technology investment grade financing at Goldman Sachs & Co. He spent 24 years at Goldman Sachs and prior to that was director in the Capital Markets Group at Merrill Lynch & Co.
Ogilvy Public Relations (Ogilvy PR), an integrated global communications firm, has announced that Vicky Waters joined as vice president and leader of the firm's West Coast Latino offering. Based in the firm's Sacramento Public Affairs group, Waters will work with current clients and expand the Latino and Spanish-language offering throughout the West Coast.Waters joins with nearly 20 years of experience in communications, media and public affairs. Most recently, Governor Brown appointed her as the deputy director of public affairs for the California Department of Parks and Recreation. She also served as director of media relations at the California Charter Schools Association, the political correspondent for La Opinión and a reporter for the international news agency Agencia EFE. She has also worked as a reporter for Univisión stations in Sacramento, Calif. and Corpus Christi, Texas.Ogilvy PR West is composed of four full-service operations in Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco and Denver.
NBCUniversal’s Hispanic Enterprises and Content has announced the appointment of Ana Salas Siegel to General Counsel. Salas Siegel will report to Joe Uva, Chairman, Hispanic Enterprises and Content and Kimberley D. Harris, Executive Vice President, General Counsel, NBCUniversal, and will start on Monday, June 1st. In this new role, she will serve as lead counsel for Hispanic Enterprises and Content and oversee all legal resources, including the division’s Business & Legal Affairs team. As a key member of the senior leadership team, she will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the legal department, and supervising all legal and business affairs issues impacting the group. In addition to overseeing strategic and complex commercial agreements, Salas Siegel will work closely with NBCUniversal’s corporate legal resources on transactional, litigation and employment law, as well as intellectual property, labor relations and compliance matters.Previously, Salas Siegel worked at Fox Latin America Channels and Fox International Channels for 12 years, most recently serving as Senior Vice President & Deputy General Counsel, Business and Legal Affairs
NBCUniversal has announced that Ric Harris has been named President and General Manager of NBC10 / WCAU and Telemundo62 / WWSI, the local stations owned by NBCUniversal that serve viewers in the Philadelphia area. Harris succeeds Eric Lerner, recently tapped to lead NBC 4 New York / WNBC. Harris will report to Valari Staab, President, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations.For the last two years, he has been President and General Manager of NBC Connecticut / WVIT, the NBC-owned station based in West Hartford.Harris will oversee in his new role is the relocation of the two stations from Bala Cynwyd to the future Comcast Innovation and Technology Center, a world-class, state-of-the-art facility that will be located in downtown Philadelphia. Harris joined NBC Connecticut from Accenture, where he worked as Manager of Communications, Media and Technology for two-and-a-half years, leveraging his industry experience on behalf of leading media companies. Previously, he was Vice President of Digital Ad Sales for BET Interactive. Before that, Harris served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Digital Media and Strategic Marketing for NBC Owned Television Stations.
