Rossana Rosado is retiring as publisher of El Diario La Prensa, the Spanish-language daily published by impreMedia in New York. Rosado had the position of publisher for the last 14 years. She will be serving with the new title of “Publisher Emeritus” starting November 1 to help with the transition, including community relations. The announcement comes days after the culmination of the paper’s 100th anniversary on Friday October 25 at Grand Central Station.

Randy Freer was promoted to president and chief operating officer of Fox Networks Group. He was most recently co-president and chief operating officer of Fox Sports Media Group along with Eric Shanks, who will continue in that role. Reporting to Freer in his new position will be Michael Biard, president, distribution, Fox Networks; Toby Byrne, president, national ad sales, Fox Broadcasting Co.; Lou La Torre, president, ad sales, Fox Cable Entertainment Networks, Fox Hispanic Media Group; and Kyle Sherman, executive VP, Home Team Sports. Freer reports directly to Peter Rice, chairman and CEO of Fox Networks Group.

Univision Communications has hired Belinda Garza as vice president of government relations and public engagement. In her new position, Garza will manage political relations with Congress and state capitals. “Belinda’s background and her experience working with Congress, business and trade associations, and in a corporate environment, makes her an ideal person to augment our government relations efforts,” said Jonathan Schwartz, general counsel and executive vice president for government relations. Prior to joining the media company, Garza served as director of federal government Relations at Wal-Mart.

Michael Giarrusso, a former AP sports writer, news editor and state news executive who was instrumental in transforming the news agency’s operations, has been named AP’s global sports editor. Giarrusso, chief of bureau for The Associated Press for Arizona and New Mexico for the past three years, will oversee AP’s sports operations and manage more than 100 journalists covering events around the world, including the Olympics, World Cup and Super Bowl. NUVOtv announced that Sylvia Hart has joined the network as Vice President/Creative Director of On-Air Promotion. In this newly-created position, Hart will be responsible for on air promotion and all short form video creation. She is based in Los Angeles and reports to Laura Masse, Executive Vice President, Marketing.“Sylvia is an innovative, creative and insightful marketing executive with a breadth and depth of television experience,” Masse said. “Her extensive work in multicultural marketing initiatives makes her a great addition for NUVOtv as we continue to grow our viewership and build brand awareness.” Hart joins NUVOtv from NBC Universal (NBCU).  She joined NBC in 1999 as director, on-air promotion and was promoted to vice president, on-air promotion in 2006. In this role, she was involved in strategy and execution of all on-air campaigns for series including “The Voice,” “Revolution,” “Parenthood” and “The Office.”
