What? BlackBerry has opened an Innovation Centre in Bogota, Colombia.
Why it matters: The Innovation Center aims to add new users of BlackBerry´s mobile devises in Latin America.
The Bogota facility is the fourth BlackBerry Innovation Centre in Latin America, adding to the company’s existing Innovation Centres in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.
According to Eduardo Fernandez, head of BlackBerry’s Latin America operations, the Bogota facility, located within the Javeriana University, will leverage BlackBerry’s “global resources”.
The facility aims to enable students and the developer community to interact with BlackBerry’s mobile devices, test applications, have expert technical support for the development of new releases, receive training, participate in activities and access advanced technology that will provide tools for the development of their own business, according to Telecompaper.
