Layla CaballeroLayla Caballero is the new Advertising Director at Diario las Americas in Miami. She previously worked as Operations Manager Print and Digital at Publicitas  also in Miami. Earlier this year Diario las Americas was sold by the Aguirre family to an investor group led by Venezuelan business man Nelson Mezerhane. Aquiles Presilla is the new COO at Diario las Americas and,  as previously reported by Portada,  Manuel Aguilera is the newspaper’s Editorial Director.

Juan Chouza, is the new Director of Online Sales  for East Coast at Orange Advertising , based in New York. Chouza  will be reporting to Nestor Perinot, VP Sales East Coast Orange Advertising. Chouza previously worked in ImpreMedia as a Digital Advertising Sales Executive. (Earlier this year Portada run a story about the kind of gifts Hispanic media sales executives send to clients and prospects. Chouza is known for sending fruits. It is only fitting that his new company is called Orange.)

Gabriel SamaGabriel Sama has been appointed as Managing Editor of  CNET en Español.  Earlier in his career, Sama worked as  founding editor of the Rumbo chain of newspapers in Texas, overseeing the creation and day-to-day operations at four major  dailies in the state. As reported by Portada in March, CBS Interactive (CBSi) plans to introduce a version of CNET for Spanish-speaking consumers in the fall. CNET en español enters an increasingly crowded field of Spanish-language gadget and technology sites. Recent launches for the U.S. Hispanic and Latin American markets include Gawker Media’s Gizmodo en español and Spain’s  Weblogssl Xataka. Content on tech and gadgets belong to the most profitable digital media categories.

Chris McLoughlin is joining Rolling Stone after a year and a half at another Wenner Media brand. “We’re thrilled to see Chris apply the strategic thinking he displayed at Men’s Journal as he assumes his new role at Rolling Stone,” said Jann Wenner, founder of Wenner Media Group.

Fusion, the new network from ABC and Univision slated to launch on October 28 announced new appointments for its Advertising Sales Team. Mark Olsen is the new Vice President for Fusion Sales. For the last 13 years he has been part of the ABC Sales team, working successfully across SOAPNet, Daytime, Latenight, News and Primetime.  Noreen Iqbal is the new Director, Fusion Planning and Pricing.  Noreen has had extensive experience with ABC and SOAPnet, working in both Sales and Pricing & Planning over the last 10 years. Jay Williams is the Account Executive for Fusion Sales.   Jay has developed deep relationships with important advertising agencies and been an integral part of the team executing ABC Unified, the network’s strategy to give advertisers one-stop-shopping for every screen, from on air to online. Jay was most recently an Associate Account Executive for Primetime at ABC.  Jay helped managed sales for Jimmy Kimmel Live!  And he worked closely with major advertising agencies like Mediavest, Mindshare and Starcom. Separately, Walt  Disney announced it will cut approximately 175 jobs in its ABC Television Group, Adage reports.
