AOL’s CEO Tim Armstrong confirmed in a conference call with Patch employees that hundreds of them Patchwill be laid off, Techcrunch reports. Notifications of who will be let go will be sent this week. Armstrong explained that “AOL is going to be running the show” at the restructured Patch along with new CEO Bud Rosenthal. Rosenthal replaces outgoing CEO Steve Kalin. 400 Patch sites will be closed or partnered with outside sites over the coming week as part of the changes being made at Patch to try and turn things around and become profitable.

Truli Media Group,parent company of Truli, a global faith-based and family friendly media content platform and social community hub, announced that it has launched a new Spanish channel, Truli Español. Judith Barbieri, who holds 20 years of experience working in the Hispanic Christian world, will serve as the channel’s Managing Director.

Univision announced the appointment of Teri Arvesu as news director for Univision Chicago. In this capacity, Arvesu will define newsroom priorities and strategies. She will be based in Chicago and report to Larry Sands, regional vice president of Univision Chicago.

LSN Mobile announced that Dave Matthews has joined the company as senior vice president of marketing and advertising partnerships. A seasoned business builder with demonstrated success driving multi-million dollar growth, profitability and market share, Matthews will lead direct sales and assemble a division dedicated to a consultative sales approach. Prior to joining LSN Mobile, Matthews created the strategic marketing partnerships division for NBC Universal-Telemundo, covering the U.S. and Mexico.
