  • Sears
    Sears is reviewing its media business.The company spent  spent US $677 million on measured media.”As a matter of good business, Sears Holdings is reviewing and benchmarking other companies in the media space,” a Sears spokesman said. Havas’ MPG, has been working with the Sears – Kmart since 2007 and participating in the review.
  • Cablevision-The Vidal Partnership
    The Vidal Partnership has won the Cablevision media planning and buying account, Portada has learned.Cablevision media planning and buying duties were until recently the responsibility of  New York City based Globalworks. 
  • 7-Eleven
    7- Eleven, Inc. acquired 143 Speedy Stop and Tigermarket retail locations from C. L. Thomas, Inc. of Victoria, Texas. The acquisition, which closed Dec. 31, increases 7-Eleven stores’ footprint in San Antonio, where recently the country’s largest convenience retailer purchased 25 stores as part of its acquisition from TETCO, Inc. It also adds to 7-Eleven’s growing fuel wholesale-delivery business because the acquisition includes gasoline distribution to approximately 150 dealer-operated sites.  “We continue to build our presence in a rapidly growing area of the U.S., along the I-35 corridor from north of Dallas/Fort Worth to the Mexican border,” said Stan Reynolds, 7-Eleven executive vice president and CFO. “We expect to grow to more than 700 7-Eleven stores in Texas from last year’s 342 with this and other acquisitions we’ve made in 2012.” The company will remodel and rebrand a significant number of the locations in 2013.   
  • Sharp – Jose Manuel Montenegro
    Jose Manuel Montenegro was recently appointed VP, Global Media Director at Sharp Communications. Montenegro until recently worked as Media Director at The Vidal Partnership and before that at digital agency Sensis.
  • MARCA-Andrea Slodowicz
    Andrea Slodowicz has joined Coconut grove based MARCA as Media Director. She was recently VP, Director of Content Development and Ideation at Starcom MediaVest Group Multicultural. 
  • Fancy Fruit & Produce
    Orlando-based Fancy Fruit & Produce Inc. has signed a lease for the old site of the John’s Appliance & Bedding store in Orange City. The owners of Fancy Fruits & Produce have four stores in the Orlando area.The company sees an opportunity in Volusia County to serve a growing Hispanic community that grew 87 percent between the 2000 to 2010 census. Self-identified Hispanics now represent 11.5 percent of the county’s population of just under 500,000 persons and 30 percent of Deltona residents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
