Content

Todobebe, the Miami-based multimedia company focused on Hispanic parenting, seems to be on hiatus, with all its top executives gone, its main website (www.todobebe.com) ” announcing a technical improvement that won’t enable users to access the site for a couple of hours”;’ its Twitter and Facebook accounts abandoned, and its main investors in New York City offering no comment on the company situation.

Todobebe launched in 1999 and grew to become a multimedia company, with properties that span broadcast TV formats, radio, digital, social media, promotions, mobile applications, consumer research, events and licensing.

Todobebe Chairman & CEO Gillian Sandler didn’t return emails seeking comment. She is now listed on Linkedin as owner of Galapont LLC in New York and cites her tenure at Todobebe from 2001 to July 2012. Michael Sigel, the company’s SVP of of sales & marketing has an out of office reply email saying “Effective 9/24/12 I’m no longer with Todobebe.” Reached via phone, Cynthia Nelson, another former executive, had no comment, though confirmed to Portada that she left the company “a couple of months ago.” Jeannette Kaplun, TodoBebe’s Editor in Chief, just introduced a new digital property called Hispana Global.

Nelson referred calls about Todobebe to the company’s top investor, Palladium Equity Partners of New York City, which in turn offered ‘no comment’ through a spokesperson.

Todobebe launched in 1999 and grew to become a multimedia company, with properties that span broadcast TV formats, radio, digital, social media, promotions, mobile applications, consumer research, events and licensing. In 2008, after years of airing a show on Telemundo, Todobebe scored a partnership with Univision to air Viva la Familia de Todobebé, a weekly, one-hour show hosted by actresses Aracely Arámbula and Karen Martínez that catered to Latina moms.

A Univision spokeswoman confirmed that the Viva la Familia de Todobebe show ended its run on the Univision network, and its last day on the air was June 9, 2012.

Palladium Equity Partners Investment

In 2007, the company received an undisclosed investment from Palladium Equity Partners. According to a press release from that time, the investment in Todobebe, while undisclosed, became the fourth investment of Palladium Fund III, a special fund that closed in March 2006 with $520 million of committed capital. Palladium Equity Partners was founded in 1997 by Cuban-American Marcos A. Rodriguez, who has taken it to become one of the largest minority-owned investment firms. It has invested over $2.5 billion of equity in more than 65 companies in the last two decades.
