CNN has appointed Jeff Zucker, a onetime wunderkind news producer who later stumbled as chief executive of NBC Universal, to be president of its worldwide operations.

 

Univision Communicationsannounced that Jonathan Schwartz, 51, has been named general counsel of Univision Communications. Schwartz succeeds C. Douglas Kranwinkle, 72, executive vice president and general counsel for 12 years, who announced last year he would be retiring after a distinguished 47-year career in law.

Ana Julia Jatar has been named Chief Editor of El Planeta, Boston's Spanish newspaper, it was announced today by Más Media Managing Director Javier Marin. This appointment marks a milestone for the newspaper founded almost a decade ago. She replaces former editor Marcela Garcia. Ana Julia Jatar is also member of the Board of Directors of Más Media, a group that includes the Spanish TV station MásTV, the web portal TuBoston.com , the bilingual magazine Health & Family and El Planeta newspaper. In this role, she oversees the content strategy of the group. She also produces "Camino al Andar" in MásTV, a TV program that showcases the Latino students' life in colleges of Boston.

Time Inc is creating a new Digital Video Division. CEO Laura Lang (photo) announced Time Inc. will launch a digital video unit. J.R. McCabe, formerly of Meredith Corp. was brought in to run the division.

 

Telemundo Mediaannounced today the appointment of Peach Gibson as Senior Vice President of Creative Services, effective immediately. Gibson will report to Susan Solano Vila, Executive Vice President of Marketing, and will be based in Miami. In this role, Gibson will be responsible for the visual identity and overall aesthetic of the Telemundo brand on-air and off-air and across all divisions of the network in all program genres (sports, news and entertainment). She will manage the network brand image and corporate identity. Gibson also will provide creative leadership for the annual Upfront presentation.

Donald Davis was appointed as Director of Media Services at New York based Hispanic Advertising Agency D’Exposito & Partners.

Telefonica’s Global Marketing Director Belen Amatriain will son exit the company. Telefonica has communicated that there will not be a replacement for Amatriain.
