The New York Times has appointed outgoing BBC director general Mark Thompson as its new president and chief executive after months of speculation.
President of ad sales David Lawenda is leaving Univision in early September, a memo from Univision CEO Randy Falco to staffers said last Thursday. "David Lawenda informed me that he will be leaving the company during the week of Labor Day," Falco's email said. Keith Turner  was appointed as Lawenda's replacement. Turner  most recently svp of media sales and sponsorship at the NFL as of 2009, will take over the New York-based position, reporting to Falco.

Esteban Lopez Blanco is the new Chief Strategy Officer, Corp Development and Innovation at Entravision Communications. Previously Blanco held the position of Executive Director of Interactive at Entravision.

Lotus Entravision (Ler) announced the promotion of Jose Villafane to the role of Senior Vice President, effective immediately. Villafane, who previously held the title of Vice President, Network Sales, will oversee the national broadcast and digital sales operations for Ler’s offices in New York City, Chicago and Miami. Villafane will continue to expand national marketing solutions for advertisers through national spot, wired network, unwired network, event marketing and online and digital client advertising solutions that reach almost 90% of all U.S. Latinos.

Lapiz, the Hispanic marketing agency of Leo Burnett, announced the hire of Gustavo Razzetti as Executive Vice President, Managing Director. Razzetti will oversee agency operations including Lapiz account management and planning as well as managing new business strategy. "I'm thrilled to join the Lapiz team," said Razzetti. "The Latino marketing landscape is undergoing a transformation. This exciting evolution requires a new kind of agency business model and service offering. I look forward to the challenge of taking the Lapiz organization to the next level." Razzetti joins Lapiz from Grupo Gallegos in Los Angeles where he served as the Chief Strategy and Engagement Officer. Prior to Grupo, Razzetti was CEO of EURO RSCG Latino in New York City  and President of multicultural agency, GlobalHue Latino.

Jessica Pantanini departed Bromley and her role as Chief Operations Officer. She is retiring from the business. Pantanini sent notes to her Bromley team and many colleagues yesterday, sharing the news. “I have decided to start a new chapter in my life, and today is the day,” said Pantanini. “I am leaving my post at Bromley. Twenty-one years with an organization that has afforded me countless opportunities, experiences and friendships…all of which have shaped the person I am today.” Pantanini is considering a community-oriented opportunity. “Jessica was a key member of our executive team,” said Ernest Bromley, Chief Executive Officer of Bromley. “She will be missed greatly, and we wish her well, as she pursues new endeavors.”  “We are looking forward to an exciting, new phase of our agency,” said Bromley. “There is much to come.” Bromley will be taking over the operations role until a replacement is named.
