Texas is proving to be a fertile ground for shopper newspapers.  The publishers of the Texas shopper La Subasta are introducing Buenas Ofertas a Casa, a free home delivered weekly exclusively targeting Houston Hispanics. The circulation of the new Spanish-language shopper weekly is 120,000.

The newspaper was introduced in mid-June with a partial run. The 120,000 issues are distributed in 5 areas: (Southeast, West, East, Northeast and South). Content is 100% advertising. La Subasta’s Veronica Galvan, Marketing Communication/Writer at La Subasta tells Portada. Buenas Ofertas a Casa carries many coupons. Retailer demand for home-delivered products seems to have been one of the main drivers behind the introductions of Buenas Ofertas a Casa.

La Subasta has two different editions for the Houston and Dallas/Ft. Worth market and is owned by the Budini family. The Budini’s published the Houston daily El Dia, which closed two years ago.

Other Launches/Expansions

Buena Suerte, another Houston based shopper newspaper,  expanded earlier this year to the Dallas and El Paso markets. Houston Chronicle’s La Voz has announced that it will be expanding its weekly circulation to 150,000 and just ten days ago introduced its new website lavoztx.com.
