Holiday Inn Opens New Hotel in Brazil

Holiday Inn announced the opening of the Holiday Inn Express Maceio Ponta Verde in Brazil. The new-build, 160-room hotel is located one block from beautiful Ponta Verde beach in Maceio, the capital of the coastal state Alagoas, in Northeast Brazil.

"We are delighted to continue to grow the Holiday Inn Express brand in the Northeastern part of Brazil by opening a hotel in a city like Maceio, well-known year-round for its powdery, white-sand beaches, emerald green waters, fabulous water sports and laid-back charm," said Alvaro Diago, COO, IHG, Latin America and the Caribbean. "We are devoted to continued expansion in the Brazilian market while maintaining our pledge to offer guests the highest quality services."

"This new property exemplifies IHG's goal of finding the right opportunities to introduce the Holiday Inn Express brand in destinations with a strong demand for high-quality yet affordable hotels," added Ricardo Lopez, vice president, sales & marketing, IHG, Latin America and the Caribbean.

IHG currently has 13 hotels in nine cities in Brazil, including one InterContinental(R) Hotel, two Crowne Plaza(R) Hotels, one Staybridge Suites(R), five Holiday Inn(R) Hotels and four Holiday Inn Express(R) properties. IHG currently has five hotels under development in Brazil that are slated to open in the next two years.

The Holiday Inn Express Maceio Ponta Verde is IHG's 19th Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Latin America and the Caribbean, and IHG's 79th in the region, inclusive of all brands. Holiday Inn Express has more than 2,100 hotels in nearly 60 countries, located in major urban centers, gateway cities and resort destinations.

The hotel is owned and managed by MC3 Imoveis Ltda., under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group.
