Portada Quick Hits: Siri in Spanish, Acquisitive Orange, Continental March for Education

» Siri soon in Spanish. Siri, the voice search engine owned by Apple right now does not “speak” Spanish as Fox News Latino says (“ Siri: The iPhone 4S App Can Speak to You in Different Languages -- But Not in Spanish”). The Huffington Post recently posted a similar story. However, Siri owner Apple has communicated that Siri will be able to speak Spanish in 2012.

» Acquisitive Orange. Orange, the company owned by  French telecommunications giant France Telecom , said Friday that it has acquired a 34.15% stake in Cascadia, a company that holds the web operations of French radio station Skyrock, for EUR14 million (aprox US$ 18 million). "This acquisition is another illustration of the role Orange intends to play on the web. Following the acquisition of stakes in Deezer and Dailymotion, Orange is strengthening its positions in content aggregation," said Elie Girard, executive vice president in charge of group strategy and development, in a statement. Orange is also 49% of Dailymotion, which today announced a deal with also Orange owned starMedia.

» New Business Website. LatinBusinessToday.com is a new website with the goal of informing, inspiring and mentoring Latino Entrepreneurs. The website is part of an increasing amount of online content that is written in English and targeting Hispanics (see last week’s launch of Voxxi)LatinBusinessToday.com evolved from Latin Business, a Los Angeles-based, print magazine with a national circulation of 150,000 that was published between 2002 and 2009. The site boasts alliances with a broad array of professional, research, and advocacy organizations nationwide, according to founder, managing partner, and publisher Barry Mittelman.

» First continental march for public, free and quality education

World War 4 Report reports tens of thousands of students marched in more than a dozen Latin American cities on Nov. 24 in the Latin American March for Education, a coordinated regional demonstration to support free and high-quality public education. The mobilization was planned by Chilean and Colombian students earlier in the month.
