Univision announced that Pamela Silva Conde will be the network co-anchor of "Primer Impacto," effective July 5. She'll be taking over for Ilia Calderón, who in March was named anchor of "Noticiero Univision Edición Nocturna." News that the wife of Univision Networks President César Conde was named "Primer Impacto" anchor first broke last week. An internal memo was sent out to staff and a press release followed. Pamela Silva Conde, wife of Univision Networks President César Conde, will join "Primer Impacto" as anchor. People en Español reports that an inside source revealed she'll start participating in several network specials this month and will take over her new anchor duties effective July 5.

Mario Diaz joins WPIX in NYC as general assignment reporter. He quit his job as anchor of WTSP in Tampa in 2008 to become Southeast regional communications director for John McCain's presidential campaign. Prior to working at WTSP, he was weekend sports anchor at KTNV in Las Vegas. Mario started his broadcast career as a Spanish sports announcer for HBO pay-per-view at age 19.

Carlos Rubén Zapata has joined KLUZ-41 as news director of the Entravision-owned station in Albuquerque. "It was a great opportunity in a great market," Ruben tells me. "There are many positive plans in motion for the future of the newscasts. It'll be a great challenge, but I'm really happy to be here." This is Carlos' first news director job. He was most recently a freelance reporter at KWHY-22 in Los Angeles. He was previously reporter/anchor at KAZA-54 from 2005-2010. Before that, he freelanced at KVEA-52. Prior to moving to L.A. in 2003, he spent 3 years as the Hartford Bureau Chief/reporter for the Univision station in NYC.

Peter Walker, who was named President of Univision Local Media in July of 2010, has resigned. He was hired last year to a newly created position overseeing all operations and sales for Univision's local TV stations, radio and interactive properties, and reported directly to CEO Joe Uva, who left the company in April of this year.

Just last week, NLB revealed it signed Cristina Saralegui to launch the Cristina Channel, which will air on Sirius XM starting this fall.

AOL Advertising announced that Lateef Sarnor has been named Industry Practice Head for the Multicultural category. Sarnor will be responsible for partnering with sales leadership to execute a national audience-specific strategy working with the team from Blackvoices.com, the number 2 web site in the African American category, and AOL Latino, a top five web site in the Latino category1, to help develop breakthrough ideas and creative solutions for marketers. He will also represent AOL at industry events providing insights and trends in the two industries. He is based in the New York office.

Ken Deutsch head of Media at Grupos Gallegos has left the Los Angeles based agency.
