Pereira & O’Dell Launches Consultancy for Brands Seeking to Invest in Brazil

Pereira & O'Dell, an award-winning advertising agency with headquarters in San Francisco, will launch podSport in 2011. The new business unit will serve as a marketing consultant to brands seeking to invest in the burgeoning opportunities in Brazil.  Currently the eighth largest economy in the world, and by all accounts one of the fastest growing, Brazil will play host to the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics. Grupo ABC, Brazil's largest advertising holding company, and parent organization to podSport, will serve as the in-country partner in the initiative.

"The giant has awoken," said Grupo ABC Chairman Nizan Gaunaes, one of Brazil's leading communications entrepreneurs. "Brazil has everything you could wish for in a global partner; from natural resources to creative talent to a pioneering spirit.  We are thrilled to usher in a new era of development and prosperity."

Comprised of 18 agencies throughout Brazil, Grupo ABC enjoys a diverse portfolio of offerings; including services in fashion, sport, technology, new media, event production and more. Headquartered in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Grupo ABC is the 20th largest Marketing Communications group in the world (AdAge annual ranking - Apr 2010) and a Global Growth Company according to the World Economic Forum.

"All eyes are on Brazil," said Colin Spooner, Managing Director of podSport. "And for good reason.  Brazilholds enormous opportunity, but it can be a challenging place to do business.  Cultural differences, language barriers, and an economy undergoing enormous change can be intimidating.  podSport is founded on the simple premise of helping brands navigate these obstacles and developing robust growth strategies."

The group will launch podSport (http://www.podsport.com) on January 1, 2011 with offices in San Francisco, New York and Sao Paulo. In April of 2011 podSport and Grupo ABC will host 100 key executives at a highly exclusive Sport Marketing conference in New York City featuring a host of Brazilian dignitaries including economists, legendary sport figures, musicians, entertainers and notable brands.

"It's a very exciting time," noted Andrew O'Dell, President & CEO of Pereira & O'Dell. "We feel uniquely qualified to launch podSport given our corporate lineage in Brazil, and are very confident we can provide true value and significant leadership to North American brands seeking to build a bridge to Brazil."
