Susan Solano Vila was promoted to executive VP, marketing for Telemundo Communications Group, and Susan Popper was named to succeed her as VP, marketing.
In her new role as EVP of Marketing, Solano Vila will be responsible for the full scope of marketing activities across the Telemundo network and mun2, overseeing strategy that will drive consumer awareness, audience engagement and ratings, as well as work closely with the Telemundo senior management team. In addition, she will serve as a key liaison to all marketing divisions of NBC Universal.
In her previous role as Senior Vice President of Marketing, Solano Vila was responsible for the overall strategic and creative vision for Telemundo marketing, as well as overseeing all the expressions of the network brand including integrated and consumer marketing, advertising, and digital marketing for the network, stations and its cable channel mun2 with a total 360 degree approach.
Solano Vila joined Telemundo in 1991 as Media Manager where she was responsible for establishing an in-house advertising department. She began her career as a media planner for Campbell Ewald and later served as account supervisor for Nestle and Eastern Airlines in the Caribbean and Latin American markets and Coca-Cola Foods and GM/Chevrolet in the US Hispanic markets.
In addition, the network announced that Joanna Popper has been promoted to Vice President, Marketing, Telemundo. In this role, Popper will oversee off-air marketing, digital marketing strategy, Licensing and Merchandising and East Coast marketing initiatives. Her focus will be on driving ratings and revenue opportunities through marketing. She will report to Solano Vila.
