Home Depot is moving its Hispanic account from the Vidal Partnership to Dallas based Richards Group, AdAge reports. The Richards Group, which manages many accounts that are very active in the Hispanic market including Metro PCS, has a Hispanic unit called Richard/Lerma. Richards/Lerma will be working together with Initiative/Identity who will handle media planning and buying. The Richards Group works with Home Depot for the general market. Read more here.

The FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola is scheduled to arrive in Houston on May 1 for a two-day visit. The Houston stop will feature a weekend with activities, including a outdoor festival on May 2 at the University of Houston.   • Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute

The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) hired VARCom Solutions to provide marketing, PR, and business development services. The agency, which will work to expand public awareness of CHLI, will also help the organization with messaging, communications, media relations, PR, and fundraising.

Darden Restaurants announced that John Caron, executive vice president of marketing for Olive Garden, has been promoted into the newly created role of chief marketing officer for Darden.

As chief marketing officer, Caron will report directly to Darden’s chief operating officer and drive development and implementation of an integrated brand strategy across all six Darden concepts and lines of business. Darden owns and operates Red Lobster, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse and the company’s three Specialty Restaurant brands.

In his new role, Caron will serve as a strategic partner working across all brands to standardize best practices and capitalize on innovative brand-building opportunities. In addition, he will have oversight of consumer insights and talent management within the marketing organization.
