Comcast and NBC in Discussions to Create a Joint Venture, Telemundo Part of the Deal

Comcast and NBC in Discussions to Create a Joint Venture Comcast Corp. and NBC Universal are in discussions about the formation of a privately held joint venture that would be 51% controlled by the cable operator, according to published reports Friday.

Such a deal could fulfill Philadelphia-based Comcast's long-held ambition of greatly expanding its content holdings.

The talks could still bog down over how much cash Comcast  would pay up front, The Wall Street Journal reported in its Friday editions. And Vivendi, the French media conglomerate that owns 20% of NBC Universal, could stymie a deal if it objects to the terms, the newspaper reported.

A Comcast spokeswoman declined to comment Friday morning. A spokeswoman for NBC Universal did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
