Uni-World Capital Launches Private Equity Fund

Uni-World Capital, L.P. announced the launch of a lower middle-market private equity fund. The fund is looking to make control buyout and growth capital investments in companies with a capitalisation between $25 - $150 million and EBITDA (Earnings before Interest Taxes Depreciation and Ammortization) of $4 million, who have historically been profitable and have seasoned management teams. Jay Garcia, partner at Uniworld Capital and former head of Discovery Capital tells Portada that the fund will use its best efforts to deploy 1/3 of capital in businesses owned and/or run by minorities and/or women. The other investment partners include Chris Fuller, Erik Miller, Scott and Scott Porter.

“We will be investing in pretty much any sector except real estate, oil & gas and technology. We want to invest in Hispanic-owned companies based in the U.S. only. Uniworld is the extension of Discovery, as I will have committed capital to invest in the companies without seeking external sources. All of the funds investors are companies and pension funds,” Garcia adds.
