Verizon Wireless Hub Accesses 14 Clear Channel Stations

Clear Channel Radio and Verizon Wireless announced today that the Verizon Hub now offers 14 of the most popular Clear Channel Radio stations through Clear Channel Radio’s popular iheartradio internet portal.

The initial streaming channels include a variety of formats, including Top 40, Adult Contemporary, Urban, News/Talk, Rock, Country, Spanish, Sports, and Smooth Jazz.

The Verizon Hub is a system that bridges wireline and wireless connectivity and runs on any broadband connection. Verizon dubs it an “easy-to-use system that puts a communications command center in the home” and “gives busy families information at their fingertips from an easy-to-navigate touch screen with on-demand access to an array of services.” To listen to iheartradio stations, Verizon Hub users click on an Internet Radio button, which has been downloaded automatically over the broadband connection.

Bringing internet radio to wireless devices such as the Verizon Hub will help reinvigorate radio in coming years, according to Deloitte. As the popularity of internet radio increases, it will become much more appealing to advertisers, Deloitte’s senior technology leader, John Ruffolo, believes.
