Spanish Yellow Pages Planned for Mid-Columbia

A Kennewick company that started the area's only Spanish Yellow Pages phone directory six years ago plans to publish a new edition later this year after a Chicago-based company that took over the Mid-Columbia directory and others apparently ran into financial troubles.

Sri Naidu, president of Travel Media Northwest Inc., also plans to offer some form of credit to local merchants who bought ads in the last edition of the phone book that was never published.

"We will work with clients as best we can," he said.

Naidu plans to publish the new directory this summer with 40,000 copies to be distributed from Yakima to Walla Walla, and Umatilla County to Franklin County, Naidu said.

"It's a much, much needed product in this market," he said of the book, which contains advertising for all kinds of businesses but is printed in Spanish.
