“Leading up to Olympics, we’ll have a series on the Olympic games themselves, looking at the world records for the major sports and explaining the history of the games,” says Impremedia’s Monica Lozano, SVP editorial & publisher of La Opinion.

Ms. Lozano says the next phase of coverage will center on athlete profiles, focusing on U.S. Hispanic athletes that are representing the U.S., and moving on to profile the key Latin American teams, Mexico, etc. “Our series on the U.S. Hispanic athletes will start a month before the games, with a strong push running up to the opening,” Ms. Lozano tells Portada.

Impremedia plans to make coverage of the games available across all of its print publications and, of course, online. “Our daily publications will feature at least two pages every day devoted to the games, and we are offering sponsorship of special sections tracking the ‘Medal Count’ and the ‘Athlete of the Day,’” says Ms. Lozano. She adds that the company is in talk with major telecom and television companies about mobile programs and content sharing agreements, respectively. Earlier this year, Impremedia signed a deal with Sports Illustrated Latino to launch a quarterly publication.
