Univision.com Pursues Interactive/Partnership Growth Strategy

Univision is stepping-up its interactive features in a bid to maintain its strong position in the U.S. Hispanic Online Market. Citing figures from Forrester, Univision.com claims to be the most-visited Spanish-language website among U.S. Hispanics for the 7th year in a row.

According to its own internal MRC accredited analytics, Univision.com on average attracts 16.5 million unique browsers, 36.5 million visits and 12.5 million video streams per month.

“Howdy, Partner”
One way that Univision.com has built such a strong Web presence is through the partnerships it has developed. The site continually partners with industry leaders such as Google.com, CareerBuilder.com, AutoTrader.com and Match.com to enable consumers to search jobs, homes, cars, services and more.

This past year, Univision announced a partnership with the NFL, under which the two companies are jointly managing and operating NFLatino.com, powered by Univision.com. NFLatino.com is the only Spanish-language website in the U.S. to feature NFL video game highlights.

Univision.com also launched a mini-site featuring the latest in tech and consumer electronics information from CNET, with whom it partnered for the endeavor. The co-branded sectionincludes exclusive videos featuring first looks and quick tips, as well as hundreds of product reviews and breaking tech news.

Interactive Content…
In addition to the partnerships that Univision.com has been pursuing, the company has also been working to enhance the site’s interactive features. Last year, Univision.com launched Mi Página, a social networking service that allows users to interact through user-generated content like blogs, videos and messaging. Mi Página features:

  • Video and photo uploads with sharing capabilities
  • Publish and participate in blogs
  • Invite friends to join and find new friends with shared interests
  • Stay in touch with family and friends from all over the world
  • Celebrity pages and groups (Univision talent + music artists)

Univision.com includes 11 channels on topics ranging from health and entertainment to finance and sports. Univision.com also includes a video portal providing instant access to thousands of free videos from one central location, extending Univision’s most popular TV programming to broadband users across the Internet.
