Examines the question: “If Mexico were to pick the next president of the U.S.A., who would it be?”

Content

Citing the fact that Mexicans play an integral role in the U.S. economy and make up the majority of the nation’s undocumented immigrants, a new website is examining who this population would pick to be the next president of the United States.

Votemos.us features thumbnails of all the candidates on its landing page and includes a fact sheet on each outlining details such as their religious beliefs and their stances on immigration, the environment, and abortion, among others.

Users are able to register and are listed by their nationality, the party they most closely identify with and their candidate of choice. There is also a section entitled “Punto de Vista” where users can comment on why the support the candidate they do.

According to the site’s founder, artist Ricardo Miranda Zúñiga “The goal of the project is not only to point to the fact that within the US border lives a very active Mexican population that contributes to the national economy and is not allowed to vote, but also to present a repository of information and links to the Latin American community (within and beyond the U.S.) concerning the US national elections and to establish a public space to share their views.”
