Taking advantage of the geographic and cultural proximity of Mexico's Ciudad Juarez and El Paso, Texas, Skymark advertising and marketing agency is doing business on both sides of the border. According to the International Council of Shopping Centers, Six percent of Mexican shoppers crossing the border into Texas come every day, 10 percent once or twice a week, and 35 percent several times a month.

Founding partner Sergio Lastra tells Portada, “Right now the majority of our business comes from Mexican companies looking to establish themselves in the U.S.”

Last year, Skymark handled a campaign for the new Costco location in El Paso that targeted the citizens of Ciudad Juarez that frequently cross the border to buy U.S. goods. The campaign consisted of a direct mail campaign, some billboards and bus advertising.

Another company that Skymark works with is the Mexican company AMB Wellness based in Torreon, Mexico. The company is a major supplier of raw materials to the cosmetic and nutriceautical (health/wellness products) industries.

“Right now we are focused on expanding our operations in El Paso,” says Lastra. The company currently does about $2 million in billing, annually.
