People en español has increased its guaranteed circulation from 475,000 to 500,000 effective with the February 2007 issue, publisher Jackie Hernández-Fallous announced last week. . This marks the magazine's second rate base increase in two years. People en español first launched in 1996 as a special issue and became a quarterly magazine in 1997. In 1998 it was launched as a monthly with an initial guaranteed circulation of 200,000. The magazine's rate base increase to 500,000 will go into effect in January 2007 (with the February issue) as the magazine marks its 10th anniversary. “As we're approaching the magazine's 10th anniversary, we are thrilled that we continue—year after year—to grow our readership,” said Hernández-Fallous. “We have had unprecedented growth in the Hispanic category and I think it speaks to our trusted brand.”

On October 7, People en español celebrates its 10th anniversary and salutes Hispanic Heritage month with a special all-day event, Fiesta 2006. This family event, open to the public at New York City's Summer Stage in Central Park, will feature live music performances, interactive events, activities for children and more. , People en español's Fiesta 2006 is sponsored by ABC, Disney, JC Penny, Cingular, Garnier and Maybelline New York.
