  • Impacto USA announced the appointment of Mike Cano as President/CEO. Fernando Paramo, Publisher of Impacto USA will report to Cano. Cano is currently working as General Manager of the Spanish-language daily Al Dia in Dallas. He will leave Al Dia June on 16th. Cano will start his new job in Impacto USA on June 26th.
  • Miguel Gomez Winebrenner recently left LatinoEyes, the research consultancy division of C&R Research that specializes in the U.S. Hispanic and Latin American markets. Winebrenner joined Cheskin Research , another Hispanic research firm.
  • Orlando Castelblanco has joined Papel Media Latin America. Castelblanco will be in charge of opening and operating Papel Media's Miami offices. He previsously worked at House King Magazine, Radio Única, TV América, Editorial Televisa, Telemundo.
  • Matt Goldberg is the new VP Franchise Development at The Wall Street Journal. Matt Goldberg oversees all The Wall Street Journal franchises in the U.S. Including the U.S. Hispanic market, TV, Radio and Sunday Journal. Jennifer Ametrano, Managing Director, Sales, The Wall Street Journal Latin America & U.S. Hispanic reports to Goldberg on issues related to U.S. Hispanic advertising.
  • Meredith Corporation's Siempre Mujer, the Spanish-language lifestyle and service publication for Hispanic women in the United States, announced the appointment of a new contributing editor – author and PBS Host Daisy Martinez (“Daisy Cooks!”). Martinez will also have a regular column in Meredith's Healthy Kids en Español, the quarterly magazine for Hispanic parents in the United States. Martinez's column, La Buena Comida (Good Food), will premiere in the June/July issue of Siempre Mujer and include her tricks-of-the-trade, favorite ingredients, recipes, Q&As with readers and much more. Her Healthy Kids en Español column, Bocaditos de Sabor (Bites of Flavor), will cover cooking secrets for busy moms, interesting food facts and time-saving recipes, and will premiere in the summer 2006 issue.
  • Manny Gonzalez was named managing director of Abece. Gonzalez moved from Diageo North America last November to join Zyman Group. Jose Lopez-Varela, the founder of Abece, Hill Holliday's Hispanic ad agency, recently left the Miami agency. three years ago, has left the Miami agency.
