According to Mediamark Research Inc.’s Survey of the U.S. population 12 and over, just under 3 million, or 21%, of Teen People readers are Hispanic (Spanish is spoken in the household). Jackie Hernandez-Fallous, publisher of Teen People and People en Espanol, says Teen People’s readership is a reflection of the multi-cultural teen market. “A lot of fashion advertisers are looking for diverse marketers. Teen People can offer that,” says Hernandez-Fallous. Hernandez-Fallous says she has seen an increase in demand for research into the Hispanic teen consumers. To this end, Teen People and People en Espanol are in the midst of conducting a survey of the Hispanic teen consumer. The results will be released later this year.
