Yolanda Jordana resigned as Group Publisher of AMI Latino Latino Magazine Group. Michelle Cortes was named Group Associate Publisher of ¡Mira! and Shape en Español. Other personnel changes last week include AMI Latino Magazine Group, ZenithOptimedia Multicultural Direct, Hispanic Public Relations Association and New York Daily News.

AMI Latino Magazine Group promoted Michelle Cortes from Advertising Director of ¡Mira! to Group Associate Publisher of ¡Mira! and Shape en Español.

Cortes succeeds Yolanda Jordana who resigned last Thursday after holding the position of Group Publisher for only two months. David Jackson continues to be VP Group Publisher AMI Latino Magazine Group. Jackson told Portada® that Jordana parted “amicably.” Additionally, last month Veronica Tabares, Marketing Manager for Shape en Español and ¡Mira!, left American Media to relocate to Colombia. Marisol Silva resigned as Sales Representative for Shape en Español.

American Media, Inc. (AMI), publisher of Shape en Español and ¡Mira! announced that John J. Miller has been named President and Chief Operating Officer of American Media, Inc. Mr. Miller joins AMI after nearly 30 years of publishing, media, and financial management experience. He served most recently as Senior Vice President/Group Publishing Director for Hachette Filipacchi Media, the world's largest consumer magazine company.

Len Sherman was appointed as the new Managing Director ZenithOptimedia Multicultural Direct (ZOMD), a new multicultural marketing division introduced by Zenith Optimedia Direct. Joe Shain will be the new CEO of Zenith Optimedia Multicultural Direct.

The Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA) announced that Romina Bongiovanni, Western Region Manager at Edelman Diversity Solutions, is returning this year to lead the organization, while Leticia Rhi Buckley, the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Music Center – Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County takes on the role of Vice President.

Returning members of the Executive Board include Michael Delgado, Senior Account Executive with La Agencia de Orcí, as treasurer, and Leticia Marquez, Senior Media Relations Officer at UCLA, as secretary.

Marc Z. Kramer has been appointed CEO of the New York Daily News, the newspaper announced last Thursday in the latest change at the top ranks of the New York tabloid. The New York Daily News publishes the Spanish-language weekly Hora Hispana and the monthly Viva New York.

Kramer, 50, is moving from The New York Times, where he has served in various capacities since 1998, most recently as senior vice president of circulation.

“I am delighted that Marc will be leading the management team at the Daily News," said Mortimer B. Zuckerman, chairman and publisher of the Daily News. "He brings to this position a comprehensive knowledge of all the key elements of the newspaper business, including the technological changes needed in the 21st century."
