– Yolanda Jordana has been promoted to AMI Latino Magazine Group Publisher for ¡Mira! magazine and Shape en Español. The announcement was made by David Jackson, Vice President/Group Publisher to whom she reports. Jordana joined AMI in April of this year as Publisher of Shape en Español. In her new role, Jordana will be overseeing advertising sales for both brands, as well as all marketing initiatives. “In the short time that Yolanda has been at AMI, she has demonstrated a strong ability to expand into new categories and build on her strong relationships with advertisers,” said Jackson in commenting on her promotion. “Giving her oversight of Mira as well as Shape en Espanol, reinforces our belief in her management and leadership for these important titles.” Jordana will continue to be based out of AMI's New York office.

– HYP Network (Hispanic Yellow Pages Network) announced that Lisa Castilho has been hired as Vice President, Finance, and Carlos Flores-Gordon has been hired as the Director of Production; both based in HYP Network's operations headquarters in Tampa, Florida.

– Kevin Walsh, a veteran bureau chief for The Associated Press who helped oversee coverage of the 2000 Florida election recount, has been appointed vice president of the AP's West region. Walsh, bureau chief for Florida since 1997, will be based in Portland, OR. He will oversee AP bureau chiefs in the region and will be responsible for AP marketing and relationships with its members. Walsh will also be in charge of overseeing AP's Hispanic initiatives. He succeeds Sue Cross, who was recently named vice president newspaper/online for U.S. Newspaper markets.

– Traci Carl was promoted to Bureau Chief for Mexico and Central America by The Associated Press. Carl will be responsible for coverage of Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. She succeeds Eloy O. Aguilar, who has taken on a new role as administrative director for the region. Aguilar also will continue to be involved in the news and business operations of the bureau.
