Editorial Televisa Internacional announced the appointment of Loreyne Alicea as Publisher for the leading Spanish language female bi-weekly magazine, Vanidades. Loreyne brings over 15 years of knowledge and expertise having worked on all sides of the business; Client, Agency and most certainly Media. Prior to joining Editorial Televisa, Loreyne held several key senior management positions at ViVA Partnership, Bates Advertising, GEMS Television, CBS Network, American International Group (AIG), and American Express.

CENTRO Grupo De Comunicación announced three key appointments. Manuel Ballagas, Otelo Vizcaíno and Vanessa Vázquez have joined CENTRO, a new media brand (see article below) that will launch CENTRO MiDiario, a new weekly newspaper; centrotampa.com, a Web site; and Centro Cápsulas that will provide news content to radio and TV partners.

Manuel Ballagas has been named editor of CENTRO Mi Diario, a weekly Spanish language newspaper that will publish its first edition later this fall. In his new role, Ballagas will be entrusted with the difficult task of researching, evaluating and developing news stories from both local Hispanic communities and their countries of origin. He also will oversee a staff of one copy editor/translator, two reporters and a graphic designer. He comes to CENTRO Mi Diario from The Wall Street Journal Americas, a division of the Journal specializing in Spanish language products for Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market. Before that, he was the business editor for El Nuevo Herald in Miami. Otelo Vizcaíno has been named creative team leader for centrotampa.com, which will launch on Sept. 15. In his new role, Vizcaino will be responsible for the creative development of the Hispanic Web site as well as lead partnership agreements with online content providers for weather, entertainment and sports.

Marcus Diggle was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Healthspring Communications, the publisher of Toda Mujer and Everywoman magazines. Prior to his promotion he was Executive Vice President, Marketing & Sales.

Charlotte Castillo joined Viacom-owned Nickelodeon as director of new brand development in the company's consumer products division in New York City.
Until last week Castillo was director of marketing and creative services at Latina. She had been with the magazine for more than nine years, holding several positions including promotions coordinator.

López Negrete Communications
appointed Moses Robles to head the agency's just-launched interactive marketing department. Robles, whose prior employer was Beyond Interactive Inc., will be charged with heading up online media strategy, media plans and creative for clients, including Wal-Mart Stores, Tyson Foods, Bank of America, GEICO Direct, Visa U.S.A., Azteca Milling L.P., Microsoft Corp. and Reliant Energy.

Ingrid Otero-Smart was named President of Anita Santiago Advertising. She most recently served as president and chief operating officer of MendozaDillon, WPP's Hispanic agency.
