HYP Network, the leading independent publisher of Spanish language yellow pages directories in the United States, recently acquired Casablanca Publishing, Inc. Casablanca publishes two directories annually in the Atlanta market – Atlanta Metro has a circulation of 90,000 and North Georgia, 40,000. Zaida Gonzalez and Julio Garriga, the husband and wife team who founded Casablanca 17 years ago, will continue to run the company. Casablanca Publishing is the highest circulating directory in Atlanta. Bell South Hispanic Yellow Pages, El Mundo Hispánico Yellow Pages and Mi Avenida Yellow Pages also serve the Atlanta market. HYP Network currently publishes 12 directories in Tampa, Orlando, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia, Atlanta and North Georgia. HYP Network recently announced plans to launch papers in Phoenix and San Antonio. Patrice Listfield, CEO of Hispanic Yellow Pages Network, tells Portada® that with the addition of the Atlanta books, HYP Network directories will have a combined circulation of 1.5 million. “We expect to reach a critical mass of at least 2.5 million through further acquisitions and launches,” said Listfield. HYP Network also sells national advertising to annual Spanish language yellow pages directories in Miami (circ. 300,000) and Broward County (circ. 150,000). Listfield says HYP Network may also sell national advertising for independently owned directories. HYP network is majority owned by private equity house ABRY Partners of Boston, MA.
