Latinos read, oh yes they do

Content

According to a study recently published by Kiser & Associates, a San Diego based Spanish book industry consultant, 72% of Latinos read a newspaper at least once a week, while 54% read a magazine. Kiser & Associates obtained these findings through 1,000 interviews over a year long period. The study also shows that 86% of Latino households buy at least one book per year. The respondents who purchase the most Spanish-language books live in Miami, Los Angeles, El Paso and Hialeah, FL (in that order). Karin Kiser, executive director of Kiser & Associates, tells Portadatm that “the most common misconception in the Spanish book industry is that 38 million Hispanics means a market of 38 million readers of Spanish.” According to Kiser's findings, 61% of the study's respondents prefer to read in Spanish.
